Hi I'm Carl.

When my dad was my age, I thought he was old. I don't feel old. True, I have seven children, some of whom have children of their own. (Yes, that makes me a grandfather). I am now retired. I am looking forward to serving a mission soon with my wife. My wife and I have been married for 46 years. I guess some would say that makes us old. I really love her. It may sound trite, but I love her more now than I did when we were young and in love. We are still in love, but it is a refined love that has happened over the years. There are things I like to do, but if someone says, "What are your hobbies?", I don't know what to tell them. I usually don't tell them I am a walker, but I am. I didn't used to walk for walking's sake. I started it after my two youngest started their newspaper route in our neighborhood. After a few years, they got tired of it and wanted to give it up. I wanted them to continue, so I worked a deal with them to do the route part of the time. Eventually I took over the route when they went to college. It became sort of a "forced" exercise program. I walked the neighborhood for about 12 or 13 years before giving up the route. Now I don't have to walk in the rain or the snow. I still walk regularly, but I walk because I like it and it is good for me. I also like to ride my bike when the weather is suitable. One year I made a personal goal to do a 50-mile ride. It was a good feeling to accomplish it.
