Hi I'm Scott

I grew up in a small town in Eastern Oregon. I was a police officer, attorney and now I am a judge. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I went to college and graduated with a degree in Law Enforcement. I worked as a police officer for two years and then went to law school. After law school I worked in a small law firm for two years and then joined the Army and was a JAG Officer for seven years. I worked for the Border Patrol for seven years and then became an Immigration Judge in Arizona. I have been married for 40 years, have 7 children and 13 grandchildren. I have always enjoyed sports like football, basketball, and golf.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family so I was taught the principles of this church while I was growing up. At age 19 I served as a missionary for two years in Italy. I loved the Italian people and I loved to teach them about the restored church of Jesus Christ. I have had many questions about the purpose of life and what happens to me and my family after death. I have always found answers to these questions and great comfort in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the Savior, Jesus Christ, and for the atonement which makes it possible for me to repent of my sins and always try to be a better person. I find great peace in trying to live the commandments, love and serve others, and provide for my family.  I believe that by reading the scriptures I can learn more about the Savior and I can try to become more Christlike in how I live my life.

How I live my faith

I have served in many different callings in the church. Right now I teach a Sunday School class. The class is made up of teachers and I try to help them to become better teachers. We talk about different teaching methods and how to implement them to try to be effective teachers. I also have four families in my ward that I am assigned to visit every month. This calling is referred to as Home Teaching. I visit them every month to see how they are doing, give a short gospel message, and see if I can help them in any way. While these callings take time and preparation, I enjoy serving. I have been helped and blessed by other members of the church throughout my life and I want to do the same for others.
