Hi I'm Andrea

I grew up in Colorado. I love to hike and spend time in the Rocky Mountains. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom of four boys and, yes, they keep me busy! Because of my children, I love working with kids. I teach a kindergarten enrichment once a week and provide daycare for my next door neighbors. To keep in shape, I love to go for a run early in the morning. It helps me clear my head and ready myself for the upcoming day. My other passion would be reading. There isn't a genre of book that I don't love. Although, fantasy and science fiction books are my favorites. When I can afford it, I love going to the theatre, especially to musicals. Plays were something I participated in when I was in high school. As an adult, the sights, sounds, and talented men and women who perform are so amazing to me. Most of all, though, I love to spend time with my family - simple things like playing card and board games or playing kick ball at the park. Truly, there is nothing better that I would like to do with my time than be with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have felt the spirit testify of the truth of its doctrine over and over again throughout my life. As a child, I would read the Book of Mormon and attend church because my mom and dad did. But as I grew, I gained personal experiences while choosing the right. As I made good decisions like studying the Book of Mormon, saying no to smoking, paying my tithing, or saying my prayers every night, I felt the warmth and comfort that comes from the Holy Ghost telling me that what I'm doing is good for me and it is the right thing to do. When I was 13-years-old, I was taught at church that Heavenly Father listens to my prayers and will answer me because He is real. That evening I decided to try this out for myself. I had said my prayers hundreds of times before, but this time, I was saying my prayer to find out if Heavenly Father was real and if He was really listening to me. So in my prayer, I asked Him if He was there and if He heard me. A feeling started from the top of my head and spread to the tips of my toes. This feeling felt warm and filled me with love. I knew for myself that not only was Heavenly Father real, but that He knew who I was and loved me enough to answer my prayer. I have had many similar experiences throughout my life. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have learned that being a member of the church causes those around me who are not members to become curious. I have gotten used to many questions about my beliefs. I am not embarrassed of who I am. I am grateful that I have had the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life to help me become the kind of person I am now. As a teenager, I attended a scripture study class every morning during my four years of high school. As a young adult, I attended a program that continued my knowledge of the Old and New Testaments and of the Book of Mormon. As an adult, I have had the opportunity to teach children from 18 months to 12-years-old about how much Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love them, about the stories of the scriptures, and how to choose the right. Right now, I have the privilege to teach a class of 12 and 13-year-old girls. Every Sunday, I am able to help them prepare to meet the craziness and scariness of middle school. I get to teach them about faith, self worth, making good choices, serving and loving others, and having integrity. These young women give me so much hope for the future. They are loving, kind, smart, and full of the spirit. I love it!
