Hi I'm Curtis

I'm a college student from Arizona. I love people I'm blessed to have great friends. I love life and good music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a college student. I love learning. I enjoy getting to know new people and learn about them. I love reading and studying. Some may say I'm the most easily entertained person alive. Where that may or may not be true, I do enjoying taking life slow and enjoying every moment of everyday. I'm still a kid at heart, although most of us are, right? I love acting, being on stage; putting myself into someone else's shoes has always fascinated me. I love sports, although I was never that good at playing sports, but to me, nothing beats a day at the ballpark. I've spent some time living in South America. I learned Spanish there. I love helping people, whether it's interpreting for them, helping them around the house or just a simple smile. Nothing beats the feeling you get when you do something nice for someone else.

Why I am a Mormon

I love going to church. Everytime I go I just feel so much more motivated to improve myself. In church I'm taught about God's plan for all of us, his children. The Lord speaks to the prophet Jeremiah in the bible and teaches us: "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee..." (Jeremiah 1:5). Knowing that we lived with God before coming to this earth, and knowing that God knows exactly who I am gives me so much peace in my life. Knowing that I can return and live with him again gives me a new perspective on life. I know that God has confidence in me, that he loves me, and I can be forgiven of the mistakes I make. I know that God needs me in his work, as he needs every person on earth. He knows we can make right choices and return to him after we die. I know it's true because of the things I've been taught. Matthew the apostle taught us that when we have a question we should "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;knock and it shall be opened unto you." (Matthew 7:7). I have asked to know if the things taught in my church, were true. I really feel deep down in my heart that they are. I know this good feeling is my answer from God. I love this church because It's the only place I have ever found true happiness and It helps me to know what I can do to continue to be truelly happy.

How I live my faith

Every week I attend church. In the past, I've taught classes for young children. I cannot tell you how much I learned from these great people. Thats what they are to me, they are people with great potential. I can't help but think that our Father in Heaven thinks of us as great people with so much potential. I will never forget one week I was teaching a lesson on forgiveness, but the more I tried to get my message across, two children were arguing and fighting and did not want to listen. I walked over and told them that they should give each other a "high five" and say they were sorry. Within seconds they had done what I had asked and began giggling. One of them pulled a few jelly beans out of their pocket and began sharing with the rest of the class. I was floored. In all my efforts at what I believed was a failed attempt to teach my lesson, I knew that they had learned something. In all reality I was the one that learned about forgiveness that day. If only I could forgive as easily and quickly as those children that day. I love helping others. Helping people understand that they are children of a God that loves them more than anyone else ever could and seeing them better their lives is the greatest feeling in the world. I'm not perfect but I try my best to live as Jesus lived his life. I try not to judge because I'm learning to recognize the potential that God sees in all of us. There's nothing more rewarding than being a member of the church and finding true happiness.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Curtis
God does love all of his children. We lived with him before we came to this earth. He wants us to know how to return and live with him again. The Bible is a record of the teachings of God's chosen prophets to the people of Jerusalem as well as other places in Europe and Africa. We believe that the words that are spoken by prophets of God are true. The Bible is a true book that teaches us to be more like Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is a similar record. It is written by Chosen phrophets of God as well. These prophets lived on the American Continent. God chose prophets in America as well because he wants all of his children to hear his word. The Book of Mormon is "Another testament of Jesus Christ". It is the same gospel, the same principles are taught. Using the Bible and The Book of Mormon together can help us understand better the things we should do to return and live with God. The introduction of the Book of Mormon encourages every man to read it, ponder or analyze it's teaching and ask God himself through prayer if it's a true book, and he will give us an answer because he loves us and wants us to know.
