Hi I'm Barbara

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married, a mother of eight children, step-mother to four, grandmother of 30 and great-grandmother of two. I volunteer at a local school, work for my brother in an orthodontic lab, and give respite care to my four year-old grandson with cystic fibrosis. I love to spend time with my family, read, do crossword puzzles treavel to the mountains and watch old movies. I love going to Church on Sunday and serving in my callings.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fifth-generation Mormon, my ancestors having crossed the plains and settling in the Southern Arizona area. But like everyone in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, born or converted later, I had to gain my own testimony. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the peace and comfort it gives me when I am enduring trials and tragedies. I love the help and guidance it gives me with everyday problems and in working my way to my eternal salvation. I know Jesus Christ is my elder brother, that he died for me and atoned for my sins. When I went through a painful divorce, I could feel Him guiding me and giving me strength to go on. He is my rock and my lighthouse in the storm. When I was younger, I started to go another way and I was at a crossroads. I feel so blessed that I had the sense to follow the path of the Gospel of Jesus and continue in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where I have been blessed and strengthened every day.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example of the teachings of Jesus Christ to those around me. I volunteer in the community and speak about my religion if I have the chance. I try to have a cheerful countenance so others will know that living the Gospel makes me happy. I teach my grandchildren, even those who are not participating in the Church at this time, principles that will make their lives better. I share my testimony with those in my congregation when I can. My husband and I are volunteers in the Jail Ministries for Maricopa County and offer services to the inmates. We help them work to improve their lives and gain a testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. We feel blessed to share our knowledgetwith those whose lives have taken a difficult and unhappy path. I try to express my gratitude for all that I have and am because of my membership in the Mormon Church.
