Hi I'm Theresa

Born and raised in Texas. Student at BYU. Avid reader, baker, hiker, and movie watcher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in a small town in South Texas, and raised in a small town north of San Antonio. I am the second of three children. I have played piano since I was seven years old. I love playing and watching basketball, and I will always and forever love the San Antonio Spurs. I make the world's best chocolate chip cookies, and a pretty mean chocolate cake as well. I enjoy swimming, hiking, and spending time outdoors. I also enjoy travelling and going on road trips with my family. I spend most of my free time getting lost in books and watching classic movies. I am studying Anthropology at Brigham Young University, and I plan to pursue a career as an archaeologist.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was raised in the Church, and my mom joined the Church after my parents were married. I was the only Church member in my private high school, which was founded on a religion that was not my own. Throughout high school, my testimony of this gospel grew as I answered questions about my faith and worked to grow closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that this gospel changes lives. God lives and loves us. I have seen the power of Christ's infinite Atonement work in my life and in the lives of those I love. I know that Christ not only suffered for all of my sins, but that He felt every pain and sorrow I have ever endured. I have felt His mercy as I struggle to overcome my imperfections. I feel great joy at the thought that God wants me to be happy, and that I can be with my family after this life. I don't know where I would be without this gospel. It has helped me through immense trials in my life, and has given me reassuring knowledge that I have a purpose in this life. I am so grateful for this life that I have been given, and strive to become better each day with the knowledge that I am a child of God.

How I live my faith

I believe that the best way to live my faith is to be an example to those around me. I strive to serve others as Christ did. I look to his selfless acts of love as an example of how I should treat others in my life. Once a week, I teach an after-school cooking class at an alternative school a few minutes away from my campus. Most of the students come from under-privileged backgrounds, and are struggling to balance school with supporting their families. I am incredibly humbled each time I teach them, and I try my best to show them that I love them and believe in them. I feel that I can bring the light of Christ into their lives by showing them that they are beloved children of God, and that they are capable of working hard to reach their goals and live happy lives.
