Hi I'm Brendon

I live in Arizona. I go to college in Arizona studying statistics and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived almost my entire life in Arizona. I currently attend college and am working on a degree in Statistics and a minor in Business. My ultimate goal is to to actuarial exams post college and get certified to work as an actuary. Otherwise, I love sports. I love playing just about any sports or watching them. I think baseball is the best sport to watch because there is so more to it. It's a thinking man's game. Although football is a close second, especially college football. I enjoy good instrumental music having grown up playing the piano, french horn, and the organ. I am always on the hunt for a good orchestral soundtrack or listening to music for wind ensemble. I also love hiking and being outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an active Mormon household. If there was one thing that my parents instilled in my as a young child it was to attend church weekly and any other meetings or activities I had. While in my youth I attempted to join a drum and bugle corps, which is basically marching band on steroids. If the NFL had a marching band, it would be these guys. While it was a great opportunity for me musically it required almost weekly Sunday rehearsals, one weekend a month, and all summer. I worked super hard to make the group and the biggest blessing of my life occurred when I was cut from the group after having been given a spot. Disheartened by my unsuccessful auditions, I decided to actively involve myself in the summer youth activities. That summer changed my life, because it was at various youth activities that I truly felt the spirit of God and knew then that God was real. The following summer I was placed in charge of and with a committee completely planned a youth conference for other youth. Our goal for that summer was to help others gain a testimony for themselves of the reality of God and truthfulness of this church. That summer was as entirely satisfying as the previous, being able to listen to others have similar experiences as I had. There aren't many better things in life than knowing what you've done has helped change somebody else's life. These experiences led me on a mission for the church and to where I am now. I've continued to have many events that help me know that God lives and that this is His church on the Earth today.

How I live my faith

Now, I attend a single adult congregation for fellow college students and those of the same age group. I find that attending church and institute, college religious classes by the church, help buoy me up throughout the week. I particularly enjoy reading the scriptures, though. While church and institute provide good instruction and I can feel the spirit of God there, it is when I study the scriptures when I come to know God and His Son Jesus Christ. The scriptures are the words left by prophets of old with the intent that we might truly know God. I believe that this life is an opportunity to grow, but ultimately the Savior said for us be like Him. If I'm going to be like Christ I need to know who He is. I know that the words found in the scriptures teach me to be like God and Jesus.
