Hi I'm Emma Gifford

I grew up in Colorado. I play basketball, sing, and am currently serving a mission in the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission.

About Me

I am the oldest of 6 kids. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. I graduated from high school in 2014. I work at my local Target store. I love animals, kids, and playing Candy Crush. I play the piano, I love to sing, and I am currently learning how to play the organ. When I finish my mission in Wisconsin, I am planning on attending college, hopefully with a major in Nursing and a possible minor in music.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church. I have early pioneer ancestors that joined the Church in it's early beginnings. I have very faithful parents who have taught me right from wrong. They have taught me how to love and live the Gospel. I have had many faith building experiences. One of the strongest times I have felt the spirit testify to me of the truth of the Gospel is when I was only 14. I was participating on a reenactment of the trek of the pioneers. During a testimony meeting, a woman got up and spoke about how much Joseph Smith meant to her and how much she loved him. At that moment, I know that a boy my age had really seen God and Jesus Christ, and that he did restore the true gospel upon the earth. I knew that he was a prophet of God and that he translated the Book of Mormon. Even though that experience happened so long ago, I can still reflect on the feelings that I had that day and ponder them. Another time that I had the spirit testify to me was during a Young Woman's meeting. I don't remember what we were learning about or why we were even doing what we were doing, but the teacher had us look the the Hymns and/or scriptures to find something that really meant something to us. I don't even remember what hymn I had chosen, or why I had chosen it. All I can remember is how strong the spirit was in that room. You could have cut it with a dull butter knife. It was a testimony to me of how true this Church is. That when you ponder and look for things of truth, you can feel the spirit every day. The Church is that truth. It contains that truth, but you still have to search it out. You have to be ready to find the truth so that the truth can find you. There are many times that I have been prepared for those truths, and other times that I did't understand because I was't prepared. I love the Gospel and the light it brings to me.

How I live my faith

I have been planning on serving a mission for the Church my entire life, and I finally get to! I regularly attend my church meetings. I love reading the Book of Mormon and studying the History of the Church. I love to attend the Denver Temple. I have a hard time finding modest clothing given how tall I am, but somehow I manage to find some and I love mixing and match what I do find!
