Hi I'm Monique

I am a quarter Korean. My smile is contagious and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My hobbies and interests are vollyball, tennis, and dating. I am currently a Senior in high school and enjoy learning everything I can. I have two brothers just home from proselytizing missions to Peru. I enjoy meeting new people and making them feel welcome in any group I may be in at the time. I love going to Church youth dances and you will almost always find me in the center of the fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the freedom it gives me to be who I am without any complications. I am very thankful for our Word of Wisdom which helps keep us from harmful addictions. I choose to be a Mormon because of the peace it gives me to know that my family can be together forever, no matter what happens to us on earth. Even though I was born into the Church I too have had a conversion story. Every member has one because they have to find out, sooner or later, if it is really true. I found out for myself what the Gospel of Jesus Christ means to me. The Holy Spirit has testified to me on several occasions how much Heavenly Father loves me and He wants me to become a better person through the gospel. I am grateful for His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for everyone's sins, including mine. I know that it was a great sacrifice for Heavenly Father to watch his only begotten Son suffer and die for us all.

How I live my faith

I recently got called to be the leader of the girls (16 & 17 year old) in my local congregation. In coordination with my Young Women's Advisor, I plan and conduct presidency meetings, report my stewardship to a member of our local ecclesiastical leadership, represent my class at our congregation's Youth Committee Meeting, encourage class members with the Personal Progress Program, set an example of strong leadership and righteous living, attend meetings and activities, & share my responsilbilties. I have received my Personal Progress Award twice, one Honor Bee (for helping other girls achieve theirs), and almost finised my second one. We do Value Projects and one I finished was a humanitarian project to bring 10 quilts and 125 hygiene kits to LDS Charities for those in need around the world. On our huge National Day of Service, Sept. 15th, 2012, we finished up a local food drive for the Thurston County Food Bank. It was also our North America Northwest Day of Service with LDS, non-LDS, and business/organizations participating in a variety of projects in four states. Our congregations in Lacey, Olympia, Roy, McKenna, Yelm, and Rainer, helped the Roy, Yelm, and Thurston County Food Banks, along with our Participating Partners (businesses/organizations), and the community members just mentioned, donate more than ten tons of food, in total. Our goal was to 'flood the shelves!' It was great to see how many good people there are in world, right in our own area, that really care.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Monique
Through Mormon Helping Hands and other services, we help people who are/aren't of our faith by providing assistance to those in need whether in natural disasters or local community issues. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Monique
Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We revere him as a very courageous man and respect him for the fortitude it took to restore The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints upon the earth. Joseph Smith went through many hardships, including persecution, because of his beliefs in Christ's true church. He lost many children and was continually in jail on trumped up charges and false accusations. Joseph Smith is a man of God and Prophet who died for his religion. His wife also shared in his hardships. He knew that his life wouldn't be an easy one but was not afraid to stand up for his convictions and was willing to give his life for the truth. Through this example and the doctrine of the Church, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was able to spread to many people, tongues, and nations throughout the world. We will never forget our Prophet of the Restoration! Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Monique
No, the Church does not endorse any political parties. We encourage our members to choose candidates of political parties by their values and beliefs. It is up to the individual to choose who they will vote for. There is no pressure, endorsements, political literature, stump speeches, or campaigning in Church functions or environments. What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Monique
Some things that tell you that God is there is your breathing right now, family, and existence as a human being. All things denote that there is a God. We as human beings and the world around us witness that there is a Supreme Creator, these things did not appear by chance or on a whim, intelligent design. If you look at the complex systems within the human body, there MUST have been a design and a designer. Show more Show less
