Hi I'm Devin

I'm from a small town in Idaho, I love to snowboard, I'm a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well my name is Devin. I have a bunch of hobbies. I grew up wrestling, snowboarding, and learning to play the guitar and drums. I want to someday speak Spanish. I am currently studying wildlife biology and hope to have a career in that field one day. I have had a lot of trials in life but a lot of good times as well. I love to make music with anyone who wants to join me. But more importantly I am a child of God. That is about as important as it gets.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. But, just like anybody else I've had to find out what was true and what wasn't for myself. The reason I'm still a member of the church is because I've developed a love for my Savior Jesus Christ by atteding Latter-Day Saint services, reading from the Book of Mormon and the Bible, and most importantly prayer. The only way that we are able to know what is true is by praying. If we read from the Book of Mormon, and pray about it to find out if it is true, God will answer us. If we know the Book of Mormon is true, we know that Joseph Smith is a prophet called by God. When we know that he was a prophet, we know that Jesus Christ is our Savior, that his father is our Heavenly Father, and that the church Jesus Christ established with his apostles is restored to the earth so we can enjoy the blessings God desires to grant us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith very simply. I wake up, get on my knees, and ask for strength. I study my scriptures to learn more about Jesus Christ. I share my testimony with those I come in contact with, and I always account the day that I've had to the Lord in prayer, which includes changing daily to become better. So as you can see, I'm just like anybody else, but I'm trying to be like Jesus and follow in his ways. I live my faith by attending chruch weekly as well. I've found a lot of joy in worshipping at church, and staying involved in strengthening my relationship with Jesus Christ. It is simple, gain faith, repent or change to something better, follow Christ's example a little better each day.

What is being a Mormon like?

Devin
Being a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the best! Being baptized by somebody holding the priesthood authority of God allows us to have the gift of the Holy Ghost. Something that is only possible after baptism by proper authority. When we live our lives according to Gods commandments we qualify for the Holy Ghost to be our constant companion. That is what faithful members of the Church enjoy. We are happy because of the feelings we recieve from daily scripture study and prayer. It has been a huge blessing in my life to have the Holy Ghost provie me with "peace, not as the world giveth." I know that God's priesthood authority resides within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Devin
Well it is pretty simple. Did Jesus Christ get paid to be the Savior of the world? No. He said that he came not to be ministered to, but to minister and give his life as a ransom. We should follow in his footsteps by providing service to those in need. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has an inspired pattern by which we are called and asked to serve in various positions through a process of prayer and revelation that will give us an opportunity to help somebody else. It is the same reason people volunteer at shelters and other places. It is purely caused by a Christ-like love that abides in those willing to "love their neighbor" as Christ himself taught.
