Hi I'm Dara

I'm a wife and mother. I'm a daughter a sister and friend. I'm a picture taking water and sun loving girl. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of six children. I have 3 sisters and two brothers. I'm married and have been blessed with 3 children. I love being a mom and spending time with my husband and kids. I treasure making memories with family and friends. Spending time with those I love is very important to me. I love to take pictures.....you will always find my camera in my purse and my kids know just what to do when they see it. One of my favorite things to do is look through cook books and find new recipes. I can honestly sit for hours looking through recipes! We are definitely a food loving family. Cooking and entertaining are two things that go very well together in our home. I love to enjoy the outdoors......swimming, boating, hiking or camping.....you name it I like it! I really wish I new how to dance but I'm not very coordinated. I'm a closet piano player and would love to take voice lessons someday. I love making new friends and being of help to those around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS church. It is the only religion I have ever known and followed. I have always had a testimony that this church is true. But that was tested years ago when my husband and I moved away for him to attend school. We moved to Iowa where we had no family and no friends. We were going to start our own life there together with our little family. We found where a church meeting was and went. The surroundings were not what I was used to and it was different. There were not many members of the church there. They didn't even have an actual church building to meet in, it was an old school house. I was feeling very alone and out of place which is normal starting out somewhere new. But I started to question some things. I will never forget how strong the Spirit was in that meeting. I learned that day that it doesn't matter if your surroundings are different. The gospel is the same where ever you go in the world. The same doctrine is being taught to every member of the church and the same Spirit dwells. That is a huge comfort to me and blessing. My testimony was strengthened that day and I was blessed by all of those faithful members in that little town in Iowa. This gospel means everything to me. It brings me great peace and comfort. I know I have a Heavenly Father and I know that He knows me. I know that He can hear me when I pray. He watches over me and my family every day and provides us with tremendous blessings. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are my greatest comfort. I don't know where I would be without this gospel. I love it with all my heart.

How I live my faith

I try to be the best example I can be to my family and those around me. I try to live my life in a way that is pleasing to my Heavenly Father. It is something I have to work and strive for every day. I try to love and serve those around me. I am the Compassionate Service Leader for the women in our church/ward. When there is someone sick, having a baby or moving I arrange for them to have meals brought to them or ladies to help pack and clean. What ever the needs are I help arrange a little relief for them. It is such a blessing to help organize service for the ladies in our church. I try to make sure that my spirit is fed and nourished just like my body. Whether that be reading my scriptures, praying, listening to good music or attending my church meetings. Feeding my spirit is just as important I have found. I do not drink or smoke or do anything that is harmful to my body. I try to use good language and refrain from swearing. I do the best I can every day to make good choices and be kind and loving. Some days are harder than others but I keep going and keep trying. Living my faith helps balance my life and keep my grounded.
