Hi I'm Ethan

I'm a geology student. I have a thirst for knowledge. I'm a sports and fitness fanatic, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Geology has opened my mind to the wonders of our planet. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful place. I enjoy learning about ancient reef systems and hope to make a career in the oil and gas industry. Studying science has intensified my inherently inquisitive and analytical nature so that I am always looking for answers and proof for those answers. When I'm not at school I love playing soccer and volleyball, swimming, hiking, and exploring. I love reading historical fiction. Listening to classical music soothes me when I feel stressed or anxious.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by the most Christ-like parents any son could ask for. My Dad taught me humility and how to rely on our Heavenly Father for strength. My Mom showed me how to love, respect, and influence people. I was taught the principles that Christ taught when He was on the earth in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. However, the knowledge and values of my parents were not sufficient for my own long-term spiritual well being. As a teenager and as a missionary in South Korea I learned how to express righteous desires, ask questions, and receive answers to prayers. I know with certainty that God hears and answers our prayers. I have felt the confirmation in my heart that the Book of Mormon testifies of Christ, and that His church, as established in New Testament times, has been restored through a prophet. I do my best to be obedient to God's commandments. I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy.

How I live my faith

The most important thing that I have learned is that we are here to help each other. Difficulties and trials increase our compassion and capacity for love. I enjoy serving in callings which allow me to become acquainted with the people in my ward, their passions, and struggles. I have discovered and felt the peace testifying that, "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God" (Mosiah 2:17). I rely daily on the Savior's Atonement to strengthen me against temptation, redeem me from wrongdoing, and comfort me when I feel lonely or uncertain. Daily prayer and meaningful scripture study increase my spiritual knowledge and strengthen my relationship with God.
