Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Martial Artist, an avid outdoorsman, a lucky husband and a loving father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always felt closest to God when I'm alone in nature. Even before I started searching for spirituality I always could feel God's spirit when I was alone and deep in the backcountry. I love the outdoors, exploring in the mountains with my family- on foot or four wheels it doesn't matter. When I can't be outdoors I've enjoyed training in the martial arts for the last ten years. The path of my training has taught me the lessons about humility and serving others which strangley brought me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Within the church I've found other people like me who have a genuine love for helping others. They do their best to live that basic teaching of Christ wihich instructs us to love God, and to love your fellow man.

Why I am a Mormon

I converted in my late 20's after searching inside myself for a long time. It took a good friend to show me what I was missing by inviting me into his family and through being a good example by living his life in an honest and forthright manner. He had a spiritually rich and satisfying life and offered me the same. I took the plunge and my life was never the same. The Lord has blessed my life in more ways than I can count since I entered the baptismal waters. My outlook on life and my purpose here on earth have been clarified for me through my personal relationship with God. I have never been happier, and the knowledge that my family and I can be together forever gives me great comfort. It changes your relationships with your loved ones, in that you come to value them more and reach out to each other with more of an eternal view of what's really important. When I leave the house in the morning I never say goodbye to my wife- we say "See you soon!", because if something happens to me while I'm gone- I know we'll have eternity to spend together. The eternal nature of the family gives me great comfort in a world that is unpredictable at best.

How I live my faith

I'm a scout leader through the church and have had the privelege to serve these young men for the last couple years. It's a responsibilty I've taken on that requires a lot of my time, but reaps great rewards. The young men in our group are strong in character, courage, and faith- and it's my job to just give them a nudge in the right direction and to provide that last little bit of knowlege they require before jumping off into manhood. By providing a positive mentorship for them through their teen years they have the opportunity to serve as upstanding men, fathers, leaders in the thier communities, and spritually upright examples to thier children. I have never had as much fun serving others as I have through teaching these young men.
