Hi I'm Dave

I'm a husband, a father, a grandfather, an electrical engineer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am very blessed to be married to a wonderful women and to have four great children and one grandchild. I grew up in the great Northwest, but since graduating from BYU in electrical engineering, have lived in the sun-belt (currently in Gilbert, Arizona). I really enjoy watching my children participate in sporting events and musical presentations and I do my best to try to capture these events through photography. I also enjoy trying to capture the beauties of God's creations as an amateur photographer. When I am not at one of my children's athletic competitions or helping around the house, I love to spend time in my workshop doing woodworking. Whether it is turning a bowl or a pen on the lathe or making furniture, I really enjoy the feeling of being able to turn a pile of lumber into something useful and beautiful. That being said, the greatest joy in my life is my family. I love my wife and my children. I continually admire my wife for her ability to recognize other's needs and serve them. She inspires me to be a better person.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am grateful to have loving parents who took the time to teach me that I am a child of God, and who taught me the importance of living a life based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was blessed to serve as a missionary in San Diego, California amongst the Spanish speaking population there. Throughout my life I have been given many opportunities to serve and to testify of Christ and His love and mercy towards us. I know that our Heavenly Father is a God of miracles. He loves each of us, His children. The greatest miracle I have seen is the miracle of a change of heart that comes through accepting our Savior, Jesus Christ. I have studied and prayed and have received a witness through the Holy Spirit that God continues to speak through apostles and prophets today just as he did in ancient times as recorded in the Holy Scriptures. I receive great comfort knowing that I can be guided and directed by a loving Father in Heaven today.

How I live my faith

One of the most important things for me is to try to live my life in such a way that my children and grandchildren know that I believe in my Lord, Jesus Christ. We try to read scriptures together daily as a family and have family prayer at the beginning and ending of each day. For me, it is important that we start each day by inviting the Lord to guide us throughout that day, and end each day thanking Him for His help. My wife and I teach a church class at a local youth detention center. We have the blessing of being able to teach about Jesus Christ to the youth who are there. It is exciting to help them better understand the Bible and to teach them how to pray. We pray for those youth to make better decisions and to follow the only true way through Jesus Christ. It is a blessing of being able to teach the youth there about Jesus Christ and how He can deliver us from the bonds of sin and spiritual death if we will just turn to Him. I love being able to tell those youth about the joy that can come into our lives by accepting Christ and following Him.
