Hi I'm John

I live in Arizona. I have a wonderful wife and 5 great grown children. I am a mechanical engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked as a mechanical engineer for 33 years and have lived in Colorado, Idaho, Washington and Arizona. I have 5 grown children who are now spread our across the country. I enjoy working in my shop making things and fixing things. When I lived in Washington, I volunteered for several years at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site and learned to be a 19th century blacksmith.

Why I am a Mormon

In the mid-19th century most of my ancestors converted to Mormonism in Europe and emigrated to the western United States. I feel a connection to to them and appreciate the sacrifice that they made for their faith. Between my freshman and sophomore years of college I took two years and served a mission for my church in Japan. This experience helped me to understand the influence of the Jesus Christ in my life. In the years since I have found that the Lord doesn't stop me from having trials in my life but He will help me through them and when things were the worse is when I have most felt Christ's love and guidance.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures and pray with my wife everyday. Our marriage is stronger because we have been sealed in the temple and expect be husband and wife after this life. I enjoy the fellowship of other members and the spirit that is present at church every Sunday.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

John
I believe literally what Paul wrote in Romans 8:16, "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." After watching my 5 children grow up and launch themselves into the world I can feel in a small measure how God feels about us, His children. I try to influence my children for good and rejoice in their success and righteousness and am saddened when the don't live up to their potential. I have on occasion felt the Spirit of the Lord touch my soul an tell me that He is pleased with my efforts. And I have felt his disapproval when I fail to live up to his expectations.
