Hi I'm Dayton

I am a big brother. I have cerebral palsy. I am a triathlete and an ironman. I'm a Youth Church Service Missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest brother in a family of six kids. I truly enjoy being around people, especially my family and my many friends. I use my eyes to communicate and have taught those around me that when I blink, I am saying "yes." I try to do all of the things that everyone else does. Some of the things that I enjoy doing are: riding roller coasters, horses, quads and four-wheel drive trucks. I also love swimming, repelling, camping and hunting with my dad and friends. I have competed in a couple triathlons with one of my good friends, an ironman, half ironman and marathons with my mom and her friend, and two ironmans with James Lawrence, the World Record Ironman holder...aka Iron Cowboy. I hope to compete in more races in the future. Our team name is 71 Soul. I was recently called to serve a mission as a Young Church Service Missionary for my church and I love it! I serve in the temple twice each week and complete a session there each time I go. I have been assigned a companion and he helps me complete my mission assignment. I love the gospel and the Savior and know that my Heavenly Father knows me and loves me. He watches over me and has blessed me with the life that I live. I am so grateful for Him for the family and opportunities that he has given me. I have cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder, which makes doing many of these things a challenge. But, with the help of others, and my Savior, I have been able to do many things that I otherwise could not have done.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a mormon family. I have always known that this church was true. I have felt the strength from my Heavenly Father and angels around me many times in my life. I have a testimony of service and hard work. I have a testimony of the Atonement. I know my Savior lives and that He loves me. I know that one day I will be resurrected with a perfect body. I know that I will see my Savior again. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that we have a prophet today. I love my family and know that we will be together forever. I love the temple and am so grateful that I am able to serve there. I feel true peace and comfort in the temple. I truly love being a member of this gospel because it brings me happiness and I have been blessed to feel the love of Heavenly Father every day in my life.

How I live my faith

There have been times in my life that have been difficult. I have exercised my faith each day by being patient and never giving up. I try hard to fulfill my priesthood responsibilities and to be an example in my family, because I am the oldest of all of my siblings. I pray often and know that I can talk to my Heavenly Father anytime and anywhere that I am. I have also always attended seminary and now love to go to Institute. I am grateful to my family and the other young men and women, as well as my leaders, that have helped me fulfill my priesthood responsibilities. I am active in my community and have had the opportunity to raise awareness about cerebral palsy, seizures, and service animals. I enjoy doing this because I believe that it has changed the perspective of others. Life is hard, but nothing is impossible. I believe that with creativity, time and the power of prayer, anything can be accomplished...even if it is in a different way than expected. I try to be an example of the Savior in all that I do. I love Him and know that He is real.
