Hi I'm Shayler

I enjoy philosophy, critical thinking, deep discussions and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from high school and not long after got back into the church. During my sophomore, junior, and senior year I fell away from the church and considered myself Agnostic. During my time as an Agnostic I really enjoyed talking and learning about philosophy and I still do. Philosophy has made such a huge impact on my life and has taught me to think more critically and more carefully. At first I found it hard to balance philosophy and religion, but as time progressed it became relatively easy. Faith is sort of the glue the bonds these two together. While I can continue to look at the world from a philosophical view point, I have faith that the church is true and that what I am doing is right.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because it's the first thing in my life that I've felt is right and true. I was skeptical all throughout high school and I still am, but when I think about the Church and attend church meetings it just feels so right. I feel like it's where I truly belong. While I was never unhappy as an Agnostic, so much more joy has come from being a member of the Church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying, reading my scriptures, and attending church meetings. I feel that these three are the essential steps in becoming closer to God. I also think being an all around kind and compassionate person is another essential step in becoming closer to God. The more commandments we follow and the more Christ like we are the closer we get to our Heavenly Father.
