Hi I'm Karen

I'm a wife, mother of 5, friend, care giver, driver, tutor, instructor, cook, maid, laundress, counselor, nurse and I'm a mormon.

About Me

My life changes daily, sometimes hourly! I am at times a butcher, baker, candlestick maker, jack of all trades, master of none...well, maybe one. Like I said, that changes daily too! I love to make sweet things to eat or give away. I basicly love making things with my hands such as quilts, lamp shades, aprons, or other little pretties. I love anything from the 1920's and 1930's. Antique hunting is one of my favorite things to do especially with good friends. Friends and family give this life all of my most amazing moments of laughfter, tears and unforgetably perfect experiences. I adore the sunshine and it makes me happy to spend any stolen moments I can outside. I also love to cycle and ride my bike 4 or 5 times a week. Life is good and I love living it!

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the mormon church when I was 8 years old with my Mom and my brother. I love being a member of the mormon church because I can go anywhere in the world and find a home away from home. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that where ever I might find myself in this great big world I will always have a family that I can count on and a place that I can feel safe and loved no matter where I am from or the color of my skin. I have been to many countries and always can feel the warm embrace of the gospel of Jesus Christ when I enter the chapel doors. I love the safe feeling of knowing that there is a bigger plan for us that goes beyond this mortal life. When life gets hard or difficult physically or emotionally it comforts me to know that I am important to God and that he is there for me if I pray and ask for his help. He has given me friends and family to help me through the good and the bad. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and our elder brother and he died for us so that we could someday return and live with him. I am so happy to be a Mormon and know that there is purpose to this mortal life and that what I learn here will help me to be more like Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am between callings right now because of the needs of family living out of the state. I have to travel quite a bit in order to help with their financial and emotional needs. I was recently working with the boy scouts in our community and what a fun experience! Those boys are so curious and engaging expecially when they are involved in a project or game that keeps their minds and bodies active. I have worked with the teenagers in our community and oh what fun that is especially considering I am still raising 4 teens in that very engaging and active period of life! I like to volunteer for Neighbor's Who Care, a community organization that works with elderly people no longer able to drive. I have met many wonderful people while driving to Doctor's appointments, the grocery store or even beauty appointments. I love to serve especially those in need. I have been out of the country with an organization called Operation Walk that gives new knees and hips to people in a great deal of pain, unable to walk or move around. Nothing brings me greater joy than to see a smile come to someones face when they have been helped, comforted or simply given a reassuring hug and smile. It is one of the most rewarding joys of life for me to be able to help another person no matter how simple the need might be. It always brings a smile to my face and gladness to my heart.
