Hi I'm Deanna Hilton

I have 5 grand children and 4 children. People think I am crazy because I decorate my farm for almost every holiday...

About Me

I like to play sports and when I was younger I was a fast pitch softball pitcher. My oldest daughter followed in my foot steps and enjoyed a college career playing softball. Now I spend much of my time as a home maker, Mom and Grandma. I love to cook and people think my chocolate chip cookies are terrific. I also recently took a cake decorating class and have a lot of fun decorating cakes for my family. My barn is full of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holiday decorations. It is almost a fulltime job putting them up and taking them down...just in time to set the next holiday up! I often wonder why I do it and I think it is because it makes others happy to see the spirit of each holiday in full bloom. (Also, I know my kids enjoy the traditions we have made around these holidays).

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the gospel after my mother joined as a teenage in northern California. She was a perfect example for me growing up and it seemed natural to follow in her footsteps. There did however come a time when I needed to have a testimony of my own and I think it began with a sharing of my mothers testimony and with study, prayer and good teachers I was able to establish one of my own. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without the sure knowledge of my Savior, His gospel and a loving Heavenly Father. When I consider those friends and neighbors who are living without this certain knowledge, my heart breaks for them. It is so hard to have so much knowledge of my Savior and my Father in Heaven, and to know the peace these relationships bring and not be able to share it with others so they can have what I have.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, it is important to keep myself in spiritual shape. I make a habit of reading my scriptures daily and pray on a regular basis. It is important to keep these daily activities up so I can keep my beliefs strong. Testimonies are like all of the other parts of your life...if you excercise it daily and feed it with good teachings and nurishment from prayer, it grows. If I was to put it on the shelve and leave it idle it would surely shrink. Our Church has a special organization for girls 12-18 years old. I am currently serving as their leader. I teach them lessons on Sunday, have an activity each week (Tuesday or Wednesday evenings) and love every one of them. If they ever doubt my love for them, they can realize that I HATE to camp...yet every year we spend a week together in the wilderness with bugs, sweat, mud, rain and sometimes cold. I can assure you that nothing but a love for my Savior and my girls would cause me to inflict such pain on myself!
