Hi I'm Garth

I'm a husband and a father of two beautiful little girls. I'm an ice cream lover. I love to play basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My Family: I have been happily married to my beautiful wife for over 4 years. We were married in the Mesa Temple and now have two very beautiful and smart little girls. My Hobbies: I love to play sports especially basketball. I enjoy making other people laugh. I love to go camping and spend time away from the city and get a break from the "normal". I also enjoy watching movies, playing games, teaching, and eating ice cream. My Education: I'm working on my degree in Accounting. I have four more classes until I'm finished. My Career: I currently work as a manager for a legal software development and consulting firm. My Church Service: I served a two year mission for the church in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I'm currently the Ward Clerk of our local congregation (Ward). I do clerical work that helps the Bishop make decisions on how to help the members of our ward spiritually, financially and in many other ways.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many members of the church my parents raised us in the church. When I was 8 I got baptized and went through the normal things that happen as a member of the church. I always liked going to church and felt good when I was there. The church taught good things like following Jesus Christ, doing good to others, and many other good things, but I didn't really understand or know if the church and what it taught was true or not. One day, when I was 15, while talking about the Book of Mormon in a class the teacher asked us if we had ever asked God if the Book of Mormon was true. The teacher then invited us to read the Book of Mormon and then ask God in prayer if it was true. The question seemed to pierce my very soul and I began to think about what the teacher had said. I didn't know for myself if it was true. How could I follow something that I didn't know to be true? I decided that I had to find out for myself, so I began to read the Book of Mormon and pray to Heavenly Father to know if it was true. Weeks went by reading and praying and still no answer, but I kept doing it because He hadn't said it wasn't true either. Then one night as I was reading the Book of Mormon, alone in my room, the answer came. I remember it like it was yesterday even though it has been over 10 years ago. As I was reading I felt indescribable joy, peace, happiness and the love of God as I never had felt before. It was the most amazing feeling and I knew it came from God. As those feelings came over me the Lord revealed to me that not only was the Book of Mormon true but that Jesus Christ was indeed my Savior. That He loved me that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the only true church of Christ. As I have continued to live by what the Lord has taught in the Bible and the Book of Mormon I have found great happiness and peace in my life. I know without a doubt that it is true and that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to do the best that I can in everything I do whether I'm at home, school, work, church or anywhere else. I believe in being honest in everything I do and say. I enjoy doing service in the community whenever I can. I respect others' beliefs but love to tell them about the happiness I have found through living the gospel of Jesus Christ, so that they can find it as well. My wife and I try to help our family, friends, neighbors and even complete strangers in any way we can. We teach our children to love God and others and help them be good people the best we can. I have always had a desire to do what is right. I've never been perfect at it and I've made my share of mistakes but I do my best to do what the Savior would have me do. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me great happiness, peace and many blessings from the Lord both spiritually and temporally. I know I wouldn't be as happy and blessed without Jesus Christ.
