Hi I'm Kathy

I am the Oldest of 6 kids, the proud mom of 2 kids, a working mom, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 6 kids with a 20 year difference. I went to college at LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been a lifeguard, swim teacher, water polo coach and player. I love the water and have tried to pass that on to my kids. I met my Husband in 2006 and within 6 months of us meeting we got married. We have not has it easy but it has been fun. 6 months into our marriage my husband started suffering from sever anxiety and depression. We have been through a lot but we have made it through and the ride is not over yet.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was a member when he was younger and when he became a teenager he stopped going to church things. My mother was raised catholic and had a lot of questions and they always just told her to take it on faith. After i was born the missionaries tracked into my parents apartment complex. My mom knew a little about the church from what my dad had told her and welcomed them in, they could not come in since there was no man in the house. So they came back latter and taught my mom the lesson. Shortly there after my dad came back to church and my mom was baptized. They were able to answer all of the questions she had that she had been always told to take on faith. It made sense to her and the spirit told her it was true. I was able to go with my parents, when i was 4 years old, to the temple so we could be sealed together as a family for time and all eternity. I remember very little from that day but i knew i loved the temple. I have always keep that in my heart as i grew, when i had questions, when i doubted what i had been taught i remembered how i felt in the temple. Through prayer and the scriptures i have been able to answer all of my questions. The hardest thing about what my husband going through the anxiety and depression is we were going to church doing everything we thought the Lord wanted us to do. Why should we be given this really hard trial that seems to have no end. But what i have learned is that God has the power to take it away and make it easy but how would we learn and show how much we love him and are willing to follow his commandments. I have been blessed with 2 beautiful and wonderful children, that bring joy to be and bless my name. So inspite of the difficulties we face we have been given lots of blessings.

How I live my faith

I am on the committee in my ward to plan and prepare activities for the women. I am grateful of the spirit and how i am able to know what the needs of the women are so we are uplift, inspire, and encourage each other. I love working with the women for we all have different stories and experiences and are able to teach each other. We can lean on each other for support and are there when people really need it. I love that we are able to teach each other and inspire each other to carry on.

Are Mormons Christians?

Kathy
I see this all the time, It is as if we are placed in a different category that the rest of the christian faiths. Sometimes that is good because we are different but at the same time we are very much like them. We believe that when Christ left the earth after he was resurrected he gave the priesthood, or the authority to act in his name, with the apostles of that time. However when they died the authority died with them. It was not until the priesthood was restored to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery, that they authority to act in Christ name was given to man again. It has been passed down to every worthy male member of the church since that time. I am so grateful that we are different that we have the whole truth of Christ gospel and that it blesses me and my families life everyday. Show more Show less
