Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 4 AWESOME boys! My oldest is 5 and just started Kindergarten, my twins are 3 years old, and my youngest is 10 months old. I love to play the guitar, I love to read books, and really, I love to spend time with my family. I work in the education industry and I love helping others with their goals and pursuits. I finished my Masters degree in Management in 2009. I have discovered that I LOVE programming! I am thinking of going back to school to get an IT degree so that I can pursue this new found passion.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, however I don't feel that I really knew what things were all about until I was a teenager (even still I am learning more each day). I remember one day as a 15 year old, I was worried about a few things that I had done. I was kneeling down praying outloud to my father in heaven and the greatest feeling of love and peace came over me. At this point I decided that there must be something to it. I began to learn for myself about who I am, and develop a real relationship with my father in heaven. I decided to serve a mission at age 19. I was called to the Iowa, Des Moines Mission, and I loved it! I learned how to love serving and I learned how to get along better with others. Having a companion all the time wasn't easy, yet it prepared me for future experiences. I learned that that gospel of Jesus Christ really does make people happy! I am happiest when I am serving others and lifting the burdens of others. I learned that EVERYTHING that the Savior did was so that we can return to him. Prophets were called in our day and time to help us better understand God's will for us in our daily lives. As we follow the words and counsel of living prophets and apostles, we find true joy in the service of others! I realized that God has given me everything that i hold dear: my wife, my children, my job, my talents, and even the very air that I breathe! His purpose is for us to be truly happy. I have learned through life that true happiness and safety comes from obeying God's commandments. I am a Mormon because I came to a point in my life where I had to ask myself... is this stuff really true? I prayed long and hard about it, and I can say with out a doubt, that I KNOW THAT IT IS! Through a restoration of the gospel, our most precious relationships can endure throughout eternity and not just "till death do we part!" I am so grateful that God has created a plan that allows me to live forever with my family and loved ones if I am true to him!

How I live my faith

Each day I strive to help others have a positve experience. I want others to feel the love the Savior has for them through the time and love that I can show them. I work with a group of young men ages 12 to 13 who love to have fun! I enjoy this opportunity to help them as I remember the decisions I had to make when I was their age. I hope that I may be an example to them and help them avoid some of the mistakes that I made! I love to help others look on the bright side of life! No matter how hard our lives are, there is ALWAYS someone who would trade their problems for ours. With this in mind, the only thing we can do is smile and push through! When life gets hard I try to think of the Savior. There is no one more perfect, and more understanding than He is. He alone understands what it is to be me! I know that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" As I constantly seek to make the world a better place by helping others, I have felt His spirit strengthening me. This is a great support and the reason I keep trying my best everyday to please Him!
