Hi I'm Peter Lonetto

I am 90 years old. A retired engineering manager that worked for Boeing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am retired Enginnering Manager at Boeing after 30 years of service with them. I worked on Minuteman, Bomark, 737, 767, Stealth Bomber, and other programs. I love to play golf, serve in my church callings, spend time with my family and friends, and enjoy traveling. My dear wife after 60 years of marriage passed away recently. I miss her terribly, but I know she is waiting for me.

Why I am a Mormon

My story is a little different than most for 55 years I attended the LDS church with my wife but was not a member of the church. The last congregation that I attended even though I was not a member of the LDS church they asked me to be a Sunday School class president of the Gospel Doctrine class. That year we were studying the Book of Mormon. Being the class president I decided that I should ponder about the lessons as I read rather than just reading them. In a very short time I knew the church was true and startled my wife when I wanted to join church. Two weeks after I made that anouncement to her I was baptized a member of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been a member since April 2004. One of the most joyous experiences was being sealed for all time and eternity to my wife in the temple in February of 2005 after receiving special permission from the First Presidency of the Church. There is usually a year waiting period after joining before one can go temple to be sealed. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true without a shadow of a dought. The more I read the scriptures and study in the classes I attend, and in all of my meetings at church I have a stronger confirmation each and everyday that God our Father and His Son Jesus Christ love me as well as all of mankind. All he asks is that we obey his commandments, and as everday goes by it so much easier for me to do so. I know in the eternities that I will be with my wife, my family, and fellow members of Jesus Christ's Church. I know that everyone that has lived on this earth will at some point be taught about the gospel of Jesus Christ and have the free agency to accept or not accept it.

How I live my faith

In the Church we receive blessings by a Patriarch (one who has authority to provide blessings to members). He told me that I would have many church positions. I wondered being just shy of 90 how this could be. I thought well it will happen after this life. However since becoming a member I have been; 1) A Sunday school president who's responsibility it is to assure that teachers are available for the youth and adults. 2) Secretary for one of the adult quorums. 3) Temple Ordinance worker 4) A member of the Stake High Council . (A stake is comprised of several congregations refered to as wards, and there is a council of 12 men referred to as High Councilors that assist the Stake Presidency to oversee the wards). So I didn't have to wait until I pass on to fill this part of my blessing it is already happening.
