Hi I'm Heidi
I run several websites and social media groups and consider myself to be a technological connoisseur. I blog about motherhood, parenting, strengthening home and family, raising children in an ever-increasingly difficult world, emergency preparedness, homemaking skills, life-long learning and education and, in general, the gift we call 'life'. As a single-parent I've raised my children alone since they were young and have taken my responsibility of motherhood very seriously. I felt that the most important thing I could do would be to raise my children to be honest, hard-working, good citizens and contributors to society. My greatest joys (and sorrows) in life have come from the blessings (and challenges) of home and family. I love and care about all people and desire to bless lives through the messages I share online.
I was raised in a large family (I'm fourth of eight children) where I was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ from a young age. My Dad was an Engineering Professor and my Mom was a school teacher until she married. The most important life lessons I learned were at home: hard work, honesty, integrity, communication, sacrifice, concern for others, cooking, cleaning, sewing, music, service, education, entrepreneurship, health, history, current events, prayer and scripture study. My life has always been centered on Christ and His teachings but has become even more so as I've grown in maturity and understanding. My greatest desire is to follow His example and do what He would have me do. This quest has been best achieved for me as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as 'Mormon') where I am provided the opportunity and means to practice what I believe - in word and in deed.
Regular family prayer and scripture study has been the most important factor in having peace in our home. It's not always been easy but when times were the toughest I could see how those two things changed everything for us. They softened our hearts, opened our understandings, and helped us desire to love one another more - as He loved us.
The gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ have been the firm foundation of my life. They have guided me in all I've done both personally and professionally. They've been the catalyst to help in raising my children. I've done my very best to teach my children well so that they could contribute to the world around them. My oldest recently returned from 18-months of service on the East Coast of the United States. My second left this week for 2 years of service in the Western United States. My youngest is working on several service committees in the community, working part-time for the elderly, and is attending the local university. I felt that the greatest contribution I could make to this world would be the raising of three children who would be amongst the next generation of (honest and wise) civic, church, and family leaders. I believe that the family is the foundation of society and that our nations are only as strong as our families.
