Hi I'm Dustin O.

I study computers by day. I spend time with family by night. I love ultimate frisbee and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As an assistant professor at Creighton University with a beautiful wife and two sons, prioritizing my time is a necessity. When I get the chance to relax with friends and family, I like to play one of over 100 board games which I own. In addition, I love playing ultimate frisbee, tinkering with the computer, hiking, camping, spending time at the park, playing any sport, and anything else that invites friendly competition. I enjoy long road trips to visit historic parks, museums, monuments, etc. Driving is unnoticeable as long as I have a good audiobook to listen to in the car such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games, etc.

Why I am a Mormon

Similar to, but a lot less remarkable than, the experience of Joseph Smith, I was about 14 years old when I discovered for myself that this is the true church and that God wanted me to have an active role as a member. As a young teenager, overwhelmed with the tasks of that age, I was struggling and I needed some help. I turned to the Bible and prayed that God would direct me to find an answer to my problems. I let the Bible fall open to Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." At this moment, I had an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in my life and felt peace and reassurance. This was the start of my testimony which led me to similar experiences about the Book of Mormon, modern-day prophets, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This testimony helped me on my LDS mission and has helped me through life. Seeking the spirit each day has directed me in dating, marriage, and children. In addition, it has strengthen my testimony against strong persecution from very close people. I know that this church and gospel are true by faith and testimony.

How I live my faith

Currently, my wife and I try to live our faith by example. We invite friends to our home so they can see what we feel is most important. Daily our family reads scriptures and prays, and we continue this good habit when friends are present. We are not afraid to share our views and what we believe. We strive to attend all our church meetings and welcome anyone to come join us.
