Hi I'm Colby

I'm a lacrosse player. I like to play guitar and sing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Colby and I am sixteen years old currently and live in Utah. I primarily play lacrosse on my highschool team and other club teams. Still I love to play other sports as well though. I play guitar and sing a little for fun too. Watching movies and hanging out with friends is also something I like to do. I've traveled to several countries in Europe with my family; we like to do educational travel trips and will continue to do so around the world until I go on my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

This gospel is extremely important to my life. I don't know where I would be today if it weren't for the things which it gives me. I love that because of it I know with a firm assurity who I am, where I'm from, why I'm here, and what comes next after this life. I have a strong testimony in this church and of our Savior, Jesus Christ who truly did suffer for the sins and pains and afflictions of everyone who has walked the face of this earth. He is the One who I strive to be like even in a world where there are so many temptations and people who try to stray me from the strait and narrow path that I do my best to follow. Although no one is perfect, including myself, I am blessed to know of assurity that my Savior and my Father in Heaven love me with a perfect love and know me personally, just as they know and love you. Although life is hard, the gospel gives us truths about life needed in order to make it back to our Father in Heaven that can help us in our trials and make us stronger for it. This gospel is one that is perfect even though men are not because it is Christ's church first and foremost and I know that come what may, if I follow his teachings which are in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ, and completes the Bible, that I can make it back one day. I know the Book of Mormon is true, and if you read it with a soft heart and follow the promise which is stated in the end, you will find it's teachings to be true as well.

How I live my faith

In order to do my best to be able to feel the spirit in my life as much as possible and receive blessings from our Heavenly Father, I read my scriptures daily and communicate with our Father in Heaven through prayer throughout the day. Additionally, I fulfill my priesthood duties to the best of my ability because I know that it is my duty being apart of this gospel. I have families I home teach in our ward, and teach when I give talks as well in any of the church meetings. Lastly, I try to help others with service and by example. Christ was the ultimate example of this. You never know the impact you can have on someone's life if you're kind to them, or serve them, or just be a good example and leader to them. This because it's by small and simple works, that great things are come to pass.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Colby
Some parents pay for their son or daughter's mission, and in some circumstances the church helps pay for some missions. I however, along with many of my friends and many others who I have heard of in other countries must pay for their missions themselves. Currently I'm working in otder to save $10,000 for my mission. It is a lot of work, and their are other things I have to pay for, but I know that I will be blessed for it one day by the Lord. He already gives me so much just be lending me breathe, and a family and friends, and my body. How then can I possibly not work for a few years to pay him back by working for my mission in order to teach others about the gospel? I still have a about 3 years left before I leave, so I still have time! Show more Show less

What is faith?

Colby
In the Bible Dictionary faith is classied as hoping for things which are not seen, but which are true. To have faith is to have confidence in something or someone. Throughout the Bible, Book of Mormon, and even our own lives, faith is the guiding principle by which all things of the gospel are based. When we pray, we must pray in faith, with nothing waivering, just as it states in Matthew in the Bible. This is a part of the scripure which lead Joseph Smith to pray to God about which church to join. But how can faith be developed? In Alma we read that faith is like a little seed, if planted and nourished, it will grow. Strong faith is developed through obedience in the gospel. So therefore it comes by righteousness. Faith is something that is an action and power, just as it also states in the Bible Dictionary. With faith, one can command the elements, heal the sick, obtain a remission for their sins through the atonement, and anything else if it be the will of God. I know that with faith all things are possible and that if we work at it to make it stronger we will develop a deeper spirituallity and testimony of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Chirst, and the Plan of Salvation by which we are on this earth for.
