Hi I'm Travis

I grew up in Colorado where I met my wife Jessica. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have two children, one of which passed away when she was a few months old. She was diagnosed with Turners Syndrome which is a chromosome disorder. She had many severe complications and we were blessed to have as much time as we did with her. Our other daughter is now 8 months old and just learning how to crawl. I enjoy camping, hiking, reading and playing pretty much any kind of game. I working towards a masters degree in accounting and can't wait to be finished with college.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS church, but did not truly believe until I was around 16 years old. At this time in my life I was going through a rough time. I didn't really enjoy life and was seeking something to actually live for. That's when I really started to read the Book of Mormon and the scriptures. I learned that the Lord cares about me and that I was actually important. When I read and prayed I could feel the influence of the Holy Ghost. Things got better and I gradually learned and gained a testimony of a great many more teachings. I have learned throughout my life that great things can come from the most difficult challenges or trials. One of the great trials of my life was when my wife and I lost our first child. I believe she was a piece of heaven that was sent here for just a short time and through the gospel I know without a doubt that I will see her again. Not only was she a blessing to have, but I was able to see that the Lord works miracles even through loss.

How I live my faith

In the church I have been able to work with my fellow brothers and sisters. It is great to feel the sense of love in church meetings and activities. Each of us are given different responsibilities and opportunities that are meant to help us grow. Some of the responsibilities that I have been given include teaching gospel classes, keeping track of donations for the church, and helping to organize the brothers in the ward. From each of the different responsibilities that I have been given I have been able to learn and help others to grow in the gospel as well.
