Hi I'm Jamie

I grew up in Sonoma County, California. I Love life. I LOVE to dance. I'm a Mormon. :)

About Me

Welp, I'm currently going to a college near my hometown. I Love life and all it has to offer, the good and the bad. When it comes to the outdoors-count me in! I Love anything nature related. Especially if it includes me flying through nature at incredible speeds-like ziplining through some crazy forest or repelling off some crazy high mountain. Im up for any challenge (as long as I can come out alive! ). I may not be good at all sports, but I'll play them. I wouldn't be me with out some good music and dancing. Dancing is my release. I can get lost in a good song and choreography. I try to find ways to push myself so I'm constantly being challenged and progressing :)

Why I am a Mormon

In my family there are 5 kids. I share last place with my twin. :) I grew up with the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Growing up was pretty easy in the gospel. I loved all the activities and had many opportunities to play with so many kids who knew God like I knew him. The hard times came when I realised that not everyone thought like me. Not everyone knew the purpose of this life and the blessings from this knowledge. In my teen years I realised that there must come a time for all members, whether born into the church or converted, when they must choose for themselves if this life, as a mormon, is the right life to live; if living contrary to what the world says is 'ideal' is worth it. When I knelt to pray to ask my Heavenly Father if all I had been taught was real and this life I was living, that was soo different from those around me, was how I should be living. I realised then that I didnt need an answer.... I knew the answer. It has never been a question in my mind since. I knew then and I Know now that this church is the one and only true church of Jesus Christ, containing all of his teachings. That doesnt mean I was exempt from peer pressure, bullying or even being teased by my own "friends". Yet the truths that I learned at such a young age helped me see past all that. I feel that if we can see past the world, we have the opportunity to reach the heavens... and Nothing is greater than that!

How I live my faith

In my ward I'm the 'Chair of Communications Committee'... A bit wordy, I know, but it basically means I let everyone know what activities are going on and all those fun details: when, where, what, why, who, ect... I make announcements every sunday about the upcomming events. Our ward is WAY active so I like being the bearer of great news!

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Jamie
We as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have the nicname "Mormons" and that our religion is " Mormonism" because of The Book of Mormon. Years after the church was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith, he translated what in now known as The Book of Mormon. He sacrificed his life for that precious book, as did those prophets who wrote it. Contrary to what some may hear, we are, and will always be, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. :) Show more Show less
