Hi I'm Jim Vines

I'm a Mormon. I am a retired electrician. I have been a Mormon over thirty years. My two sons and I were baptized in Hawaii.

About Me

I retired from the Navy in 1985 and took a job in the Bahamas. It lasted three months. After returning home I attended a technical college an became an electrician. I suffered a heart attack in 2006 and haven't fully recovered. I now do odd jobs and church service. Lest I forget, I also have my honey-do list to work on.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the Book of Mormon. The full time missionaries came to our home to teach my children the gospel. I had not intended to sit in on the discussions, but my wife confronted me. "You are not going in the bedroom and watch tv are you?" Of course, being cornered, I said "No, dear, I'll sit in." My spiritual destiny was sealed. I do not regret it one bit. The missionaries challenged me to read the Book of Mormon and when I read the first chapter and first verse I knew right away the Book of Mormon was true. From that day forward by the witness of the Holy Ghost I have learned that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and that living prophets have been restored to this earth to lead and guide us back to our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith loving and cherishing my family. They are most precious to me. The family is the most important structure upom this earth. Through the family mankind is perpetuated. I love my family very much. Besides family I also serve others through Church activities and projects. Someone has said "When you are in the service of your fellow man you are in the service of your God.: I believe this with my entire soul. We are a service oriented church and that is one of the things that inticed me to become a Mormon. Another thing that strongly persuaded me to become a Mormon was the importance of a Christ centered family. Each member living to serve one another and all living to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
