Hi I'm Holly Groom

I was born and raised Cedar Rapids, IA. I'm an active stay at home mom with "eyes on eternity". I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay at home mom of one son, and hopefully more someday. I like to ride my bike with my son in the trailer, go for walks and play all weekend with my husband and son. When home alone, I sing and dance to myself-and to my dogs. I like to do hard workouts and find new ways to serve my the sisters in my church and their families.

Why I am a Mormon

Family is the most important unit in the whole world. Mine was a broken home growing up with mom doing her best to take care of my sister and me-and she did a great job. I always knew there was something more to life, something beyond what any church taught that I had previously attended. I felt there was something more than what I had known. Searching for the right church after marrying my husband, none of the churches felt 'right' to us. During the missionary lessons, they taught us families are forever. Nothing has given me more joy to know that I, my husband, and our posterity don't have to ever be separated again. Nothing has rung more true to me than this. Eternal family is just one reason why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The women's organization in our church has leaders appointed: a president, 2 counselors and I am their secretary. Each Sunday, when we women have our hour of church we have announcements and one woman teaches a lesson. Some women are not able to be in the room because their job is to teach the youth. So for these women who don't get to attend the women's hour, also known as Relief Society, I send out the email each week with the announcements, lesson details and any other important information the women may need. Along with my job of secretary, while one of the 'counselors' does most of the planning, we all are involved in the set up and tear down at the ladies gatherings. I visit several women within the church and assess their needs as well as the needs of their family as well as sharing a brief message of the gospel with them. I really enjoy this because it gives me a chance to get to know more women in our church that I wouldn't normally get to do! I really try to care for them as Christ cared for each and every person he came across and though I come up short, I know that I am doing His work here on earth.
