Hi I'm Karissa

I'd rather be outdoors. I dream of humanitarian nursing projects. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a full-time missionary serving in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. My mission has been, without a doubt, the most rewarding experience of my life. I love tromping around mountains, beaches, and lakes with my family, friends, and trusty Nikon. I'm a nursing student at Brigham Young University and I find the human body absolutely fascinating. Though I go every summer, Lake Powell is STILL my favorite vacation. I love outdoor sports of all kinds. Wakeboarding, water skiing, snowboarding, snow skiing, rock climbing, running, hiking...I love it all! I believe the best adventures are the ones that go against every original plan. I love traveling to new places and experiencing new cultures. Over the past year I have acquired the tendency to say "y'all" and eat everything with extra spice. I've fallen in love with the South.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I was blessed to be raised by righteous parents who taught me how to live according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Why am I still a Mormon? Because I have witnessed the joy and peace that comes from following the Savior's example. I know without a doubt that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. I know the power of His Atonement will strengthen and enable all who follow Him. I know because I have felt this power strengthen me to do and become things I could not have done or become on my own. I live the gospel of Jesus Christ so I can one day return with my family to live eternally in the presence of my Father in heaven.

How I live my faith

For the past year my sole purpose has been to bring others to Christ. I do this by inviting and teaching everyone I meet to follow His example. As missionaries, we serve regularly in the community and teach the basic principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I live my faith by striving to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. I love studying the scriptures because they teach me how to find happiness in this life despite the difficulties and challenges the world throws at me.
