Hi I'm Glen

I grew up in a small town in Missouri. I now enjoy living in North Carolina. I work as a fire fighter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was adopted at birth into a great family. I could not have asked for a better environment to grow up in. I have loving parents who have taught me so much. With a father as a fire fighter and a mother as a nurse, I learned early the importance of helping others. I guess I had a pretty normal childhood, I spent as much time as I could being outdoors. I was very active in sports throughout high school. After graduation, I spent two years in the Ecuador, Guayaquil South Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I met so many great people and grew so much during that time of my life. Upon returning from the mission I met a girl from North Carolina who was attending a small all women's college in my home town. We later got married and moved to North Carolina to start our lives together. I was able to fulfill my childhood dream and have followed in my fathers footsteps and work as a fire fighter/paramedic.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in a Mormon family and always going to church. It would be easy to say that I am a Mormon because that is all that I know. That is not the only reason. At a fairly young age I realized that tough times were ahead and I would not always be able to lean on my parents beliefs and convictions. I needed to find out for myself if what I had been taught was as true and strong as I had been told. I studied and prayed. I knew that we all have a loving Heavenly Father and He will answer our prayers. So I simply asked if the church was true and there was not a miraculous vision or dream but a calming peace and sense of security in regards to what I had asked. Since then I have had several times in my life where I have found those tough times I knew would come. Each time that I felt I needed help or strength that same peace and security was felt. As I continue working as a fire fighter I see people on some of the worse days of their lives. I have seen the pain people feel as they lose loved ones or everything they have. Every time I see this happen, I again feel that peace and security. I know where that peace and security comes from, it comes from knowing that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us. He loves us enough that He sent His son to be our example and to die for us. Jesus Christ has paid the price for my sins. This is amazing to me, I know that regardless of the trials and hardships we face in life we can overcome them. No matter what mistakes we make in life there is a way back to find happiness. It may not be easy but thanks to the infinite love of our Savior and Father in Heaven we can return to live with them. One of the greatest comforts of the restored gospel is that families can be together forever. It is not just until death, but forever. Since that feeling of peace and security that came as an answer to my prayer there have been countless other blessings in my life and they truly are miraculous.

How I live my faith

In addition to my career, I have found other ways to help others. I have been very active helping in the community organizing fund raisers for organizations that help children in need. I have been the president of the local fire fighters union and have helped my coworkers in times of need. I have volunteer work to help out families with injured or sick children. I have been able to serve in the church in many ways as well. I have worked with the young men and women taking them rock climbing, white water rafting, camping and helping with many other activities.
