Hi I'm David

I'm a father of two, I love traveling with my family and enjoy triathlons and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm almost 40, married and have two wonderful children. I grew up in a large family with parents who tried their best to teach me right and how to work. I have been fortunate to obtain a good education and now am a physician. Over the last four years I have become more active in exercise with doing triathlons and have run a few marathons. I have really enjoyed these sports especially when I get to do them with family and friends. I also enjoy fishing but ever since I started exercising I stopped that. I used to love to go fishing with my dad and hopefully my son will have that same interest one day. I also enjoy giving service and growing things in my yard. We had a good amount of strawberries this year, and am happy to say I made some delicious strawberry jam from them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but since my childhood I have always felt it was right. I'm not sure of a certain moment or event that made me more sure that it is true, but serving a mission really brought the gospel to life. I am grateful for the privilege of serving in Brazil. It was good to be working for the Lord full time. Now that I'm married and raising my own kids I see even more the importance of the gospel and families. I know our Father in Heaven loves me and my family and I am grateful for his Son Jesus Christ. I know he lived and died for us and that we will all one day stand before him to be accountable for the time we had and how we lived. I hope to bring my family home to him. I will do this by following our Savior through the counsel of his appointed leaders and prophets. Although my life has not really been hard up to this point I am aware that challenges yet great opportunities are awaiting me. I am thankful for Jesus Christ and know He lives and loves me. He has established His church and I am grateful to be a part of it. His prophet Thomas S. Monson is really a prophet and leads the church through revelation and by example. I am also grateful for the Book of Mormon and for those prophets of old who wrote the contents of it for our day. I know it is a true book and we will come to know our Savior by living the teachings in it. I am thankful for Joseph Smith for his role in restoring the gospel and bringing the Book of Mormon to light. I know these things are true by the feeling I have from the Holy Ghost and I hope with all my heart my children will come to that same understanding to help them each day and bring their children home to.

How I live my faith

In the scriptures it says, If you love me then keep my commandments. I have found that love for the Lord is synonymous with obedience and that showing that love also means giving service. I have found that to be true in my own life and have found great joy in giving service. I try to live what I know is true by being patient and kind and looking for the good in people. I have a lot to learn and improve on but I am grateful for our Savior and his strength to help me become what he wants me to be. Currently I serve in a group of men my age as one who gives counsel, helps organize service projects and social gatherings. I also get to teach a lesson about once a month and that usually consists of reviewing one of the general conference talks given by one of the church leaders (prophet, first presidency, twelve apostles, world area leaders, etcetera). I also get to visit with some of the families in our ward and feel grateful to be in association with so many wonderful people. I hope to live my faith by my example of love and service. I hope to be a patient father, faithful husband and to be true to what I know is right. I loved being a missionary and hope to have more missionary opportunities in the future. I love going to the temple and hope to one day learn how to do genealogy work and get involved in that so I can serve family members who have passed on. I hope my colleagues will see that I am happy living the gospel and want it in their lives as well.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

David
Faith in Jesus Christ gives me not just hope but also assurance that because of what he did my wife and I can be married for time and eternity. Also living as he did makes our marriage what it is supposed to be: happy, full of selfless love and service, patience for each other and putting the needs of the other ahead of your own. Faith in Jesus Christ will also make it possible to bear the challenges that will come with marriage and having children. Also faith in Jesus Christ will help us to be faithful to each other and to endure to the end of our lives and give us reassurance that our family will be reunited again after we die. I am so grateful for my wife and feel so fortunate to have her as my companion. I am also very grateful to Christ for making it possible for us to be together forever. Show more Show less
