Hi I'm Travis

I am an Accounting Ph.D student, husband, aspiring handyman, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love researching new ideas in relation to accounting and capital markets. I am currently in a Ph.D program for accounting at the University of North Carolina. I love spending time with my wife and being outdoors. Growing up I spent a lot of time camping, hiking, going rope swinging and cliff jumping into water. In February of 2013, my wife and I went through the experience of having a daughter stillborn when my wife was almost eight months pregnant. This was very shocking for us, but because of our faith in Jesus Christ we felt peace in the promises of eternal families. Through the enabling power of Jesus Christ's atonement, I have felt comfort and strength while enduring this most difficult trial.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a strong faith in God. I know that Christ is the savior of the world, and through him we can all return to our Heavenly Father. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I have prayed to God to know of the truthfulness of the principles taught therein, and have received confirmation of their veracity. Having received this knowledge, I know that there are living prophets on the earth today and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the church that God has established on this earth with proper authority. This and many more are reasons why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Not only do I go to church every Sunday, but I live my faith daily. My faith is all about who I am as a person and who I am becoming. My faith teaches me about charity and the need to show love to all those around me. Living my faith means sharing the joy I feel about the knowledge I have of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with my friends, neighbors, and coworkers. It means standing up for what I believe in, and sticking strong to my standards. Living my faith means strengthening my family as well. My family is what I cherish the most, and so focusing on loving and caring for them is my top priority.
