Hi I'm Jen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom with four kids. I've been married for 16 yrs. I'm a musician and have a degree in Music Education. I love singing in choirs and solo. I enjoy directing choirs and teaching private voice lessons. I also enjoy exercise and try to exercise in a variety of ways. I am a foodie and love to cook, bake and eat. For me, cooking for my family is an act of love. Trying new recipes is so fun for me and I'm always trying to find the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. As a family we enjoy hiking, skiing, and travel discovering the beautiful state we live in.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church. It was always a part of my life but when I was a teenager I wanted to know if this was for sure the path for me. On a camping trip I wandered off by myself with my scriptures. Kneeling down in prayer I pondered and prayed about Joseph Smith and The Book of Mormon. I remember the feeling of peace in my heart as I prayed. I'm not sure how long I was there but when I left I knew in my heart that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon was true. As I matured I discovered more to be true such as the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I am not perfect and am aware that without the Savior I would be stuck in my bad choices and decisions. For me this really is the heart of what I believe in.

How I live my faith

Without the gospel of Jesus Christ I believe parenting would be very difficult. I feel blessed to know the gospel and have values and morals to instill in my children. The world today is difficult. More difficult than when I was a kid and I believe my children need to know their place in the world. That they are important and are children of a Heavenly Father. I love the Primary program of the church which provides lessons to teach my children about choosing the right from the time they are small. I've had many different callings or jobs in the church and they have always blessed my life. But I feel like my most important calling is as a mother in teaching my children to pray, to treat others kindly, and to act as Jesus would act.
