Hi I'm Vanessa

I'm a daughter, sister, wife, mother & grandmother. I have a BS degree in Law Enforcement. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing, and do so enthusiastically if not necessarily well. I enjoy logic puzzles, reading, embroidery, cross-stitch and also spend many hours doing research in family history. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is the least commercialized of them all & it is mostly about getting together as a family and enjoying the food, fellowship, & fun. We, as individual members of the family, do not all share the same political or religious beliefs, but we do share love and enjoy each others company. We now have four generations that meet for this. Our competition is limited to dessert cook-offs or major board game challenges-Balderdash for the bigger groups especially at Thanksgiving, or the weekly get togethers and Settlers of Catan.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel the spirit enfold me as I study and hear the words of prophets old and new. The messages reaffirm something deep inside and say this is true. The gospel and extended family found within the walls of the church, wherever it is, is like coming home. We all have our faults and imperfections, but it is wonderful to know that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us and a Savior in Jesus Christ who was willing to atone for our sins. Like the Children's hymn states, "I Feel My Savior's Love; its gentleness enfolds me"......."My heart is filled with peace."

How I live my faith

I have laughed and cried over the years as I have gladly served in a number of ways my brothers and sisters in the church as well as children and youth in the community. I loved volunteering in the Boy Scout program as my sons attended Cub Scouts. As they got older, and I continued working with the Boy Scout council in our city. I loved being able to choose and direct the music for our ward to sing as a congregation in Sunday meetings and share my love of music with the women as we would gather together in our classes. I also have worked as a family history consult in the Family History Library and assisted both church members and people in our community who wanted to learn how to research their family. Today I teach a class once a month on messages from our church leaders and how these things help us live our lives such that we may once again return to our Father in Heaven.
