Hi I'm Craig

I'm a gamer. I'm a socialite. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Life is so great right now! I attend BYU. I'm into computers and astronomy, and I'm always wondering how the world works. I enjoy writing, creating, listening to music... Hockey is my favorite sport, I've got a fantastic family, including an older sister I love to death and a younger brother who is my best friend ever. I like keeping things short and to-the-point. I'm into video games, role-playing games- just having fun and having someone around to have fun with. I got into a thing called "Let's Play"- basically recording myself playing a game, commenting as I play it and uploading it to YouTube. It's very enjoyable and I like trying to make someone smile. Even if it's because of my missing a key jump and hearing me freak out about how I should have made it. _ If I can make one person smile a day, it's all worth it. If I can make more than one person smile a day, even better! (^_^) Currently (Aug '12 to Aug '14) I'm serving in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission. It is the greatest mission ever. Temple Square, the conference center... it's all amazing!

Why I am a Mormon

In some way, the teachings make sense to me. There's no ambiguity. There's an answer to every question, and if I can't find it I know where to go to ask. Even if there are some questions I don't get answer, I don't worry about it and eventually it gets figured out. It just seems to me that this is the best way to happiness. Drugs, alcohol, chastity- you don't have to worry about doing something stupid if you're living the lifestyle. It provides such hope in such a hopeless world. Quite literally, it keeps me alive.

How I live my faith

My general rule is that if I wouldn't do it on Sunday, I won't do it on Wednesday. As a more specific rule, I try to live in a way that I can say I let my light shine, as the Savior says in Matthew 5. It's always a constant effort to live my life that way but eventually it becomes second nature. All in all, I try to remember the Savior and the ultimate sacrifice He made for me. To me, the ultimate expression of love is to follow His commandments, so I strive to make sure He knows I love Him.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Craig
The short answer is no. The long answer is that the Church encourages each member to be politically minded and decide for themselves which party they want to support, provided they are in harmony with the principles of the gospel. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Craig
I met with a minister of a different faith on my mission. He compared salvation to jumping over the moon, and our jumping to our works. No matter how hard we jump, we will never jump over the moon, and that the Grace of Christ is the bolster to jumping over the moon. I thought it was an accurate comparison- but we still need to jump. In other words, Christ's grace is the only way we can be brought back to be with God, but if we don't do anything then we won't be where we want to be. Show more Show less

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Craig
If you want to be technical, Jesus Christ and God the Father 'founded' what is now called "Mormonism". But that's not really what you're asking. In 1830, after he received his heavenly vision, translated the Book of Mormon, and received the power and authority to act in God's place here on earth (also called the Priesthood), Joseph Smith organized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
