Hi I'm Josh

I love travel, technology, and fine arts. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving full-time mission in the Sydney, Australia area. Previous to my decision to serve, I studied at BYU's music school. Through music I have come to appreciate a wide variety of cultures and to see through the eyes (and ears) of all of God's children. I come from a family of seven. As a Chinese family growing up in the United States, we have been blessed with knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ in strengthening ourselves and each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed to have been born into a loving family where righteous principles and practices guided me. The Spirit continues to reside there, blessing our lives with direction and love. As I grew and my faith was tested, I solidified my testimony when I read the Book of Mormon. Through my reading the Spirit testified to me of its divine truthfulness. Its mere existence fulfills the grounds of my faith - that God is the eternal and loving heavenly Father, that he lives and speaks to us today! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church on earth. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ can give peace to all in this life and joy in the life to come.

How I live my faith

At the moment I have found no greater calling than to honor God and serve my fellow men by serving a full-time mission to the people of Australia. The blessings are immense, the miracles are plenty, and I am able to see my own faith grow each day through learning and sharing the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Josh
Baptism is a little more than a rite of entry for church membership; baptism is a commandment given to us from our Heavenly Father, and is a physical ordinance which is done by his children who covenant to keep themselves clean from their past lives. The baptismal covenant, or mutual promise with God and ourselves, is that we will take upon us the name of Christ, always remember him, and keep his commandments. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Josh
There is imminent reward in taking lessons from history and applying them to life. Stories written in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and other scripture contain wisdom that that change us for the better. Even more so, the writings of prophets and apostles are inspired words provided by a loving Heavenly Father, full of light and truth. Daily scripture study can fill your day with peace, joy, and love. Your faith will grow, and subsequently you can better know your purpose in life and your relationship with God. A testimony of its truth is promised to all who read the word of God and desire to know; the Holy Ghost will confirm it to you. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Josh
Both the chapel and the temple are a sacred place, a place where the Spirit and love of the Lord can be felt. All visitors are welcome and encouraged to come worship with us each Sunday at church. Sunday services include the sacrament (partaking of the bread and water), listening to a selection of speakers pre-chosen from the congregation, Sunday school, and other meetings. The temple is the House of the Lord, and consequently all must be kept clean both physically and spiritually within its walls. Only members of the church who are in line with the commandments of God can be recommended for temple entrance, therein to perform further sacred ordinances necessary to gain eternal life.
