Hi I'm Bryan Austad

I'm learning the fiddle and mandolin and one day will play in a family bluegrass band. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of 4 beautiful daughters. I'm married to an amazing woman. I'm a computer nerd and like programming. When I'm not working, I'm usually playing hard with my family. We love Bear Lake and St. George UT. My daughters play softball, it is our second religion. I like to stay active. I play basketball, raquetball, golf, and lose to my wife in tennis. I like to swim, even if I'm slow. I've done a triathlon before, but I don't like to run. I'm also into music. I play 4 instruments, guitar, piano, violin, and now learning mandolin. I have a dream of one day playing in a family bluegrass band. I like to write music. I've published one of my songs. I write ballads and church music.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon, because it is true. I was born into a mormon family. I served an LDS mission in Portugal. I leaned on my parents testimony while I was young, but through personal experiences and prayer, I've come to know for myself that God is real and is aware of who I am. He has great things for me to do and expects a lot from me. Because the things he expects are great and He knows of my imperfections and weaknesses, He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who atoned for my sins. When I am low He is there to lift me up. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know this because I've read, studied, pondered, and prayed about it. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to me of its truth. I know that Joseph Smith saw what he said he saw. He was visited by our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. They were two distinct beings. I know we have a living prophet that leads and receives revelation today. I know that my family can live together forever. I know of these truths through the same witness of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I serve with the young men ages 12 to 18. I've been serving in the young men organization pretty much since I've been home from my mission, which has been 17 years. Me and my wife only have daughters. These callings have given my an opportunity to have many sons. I've seen many go on to get their eagle scouts, go on missions, return home and get married in the temple. I pray that my daughters will find worthy young men who hold and honor their priesthood and can one day take them to the temple to be sealed. I enjoy going camping, doing high adventure activities in these callings. I've hiked various mountains, camped in the Uintas, Wind Rivers, and other forests. I've done white water rafting, kayaking, various rope courses, rock climbed, repelled, horse back riding, and many other activities with these young men. The sweetest memories I have are on a mountain's edge listening to the sweet Spirit as these young men bear their testimonies. I currently home teach a couple of elderly widows. I enjoy their company so much. I take my daughters with me to visit them, they instantly become grand mothers to my daughters.
