Hi I'm Joe and Cathy

We were born and raised in South Carolina. Cathy is a second grade teacher and Joe is a retired fire chief. We are Mormon.

About Me

We are the parents of five daughters and one son. Cathy has taught first grade for 18 years and will teach second grade this year. She enjoys reading, walking, keeping up with our adult children, and hanging out with our two chihuahuas. I served in the fire service for thirty-one years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have enjoyed participating in sports but now my body doesn't seem to cooperate and I just have to watch. We love living in the beautiful south and both our families go back generations as early settlers of South Carolina. We love taking short trips around the state because there is so much to explore and learn.

Why I am a Mormon

Cathy is a convert to the church. She met the missionaries at age 17 during a time when she felt that something was missing in her life. Everything the missionaries taught her seemed familiar and made so much sense. Our Heavenly Father has provided a plan for us so that we will know where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going. Our Heavenly Father knows us individually and loves us so much that He sent His son Jesus Christ to atone for our sins. I have been a life-long member of the church but had to at some point in my life decide whether all the things I was taught throughout my life were true. Through scripture study, prayer, and taking the challenge in The Book of Mormon (Moroni 10:4), I came to realize through the power of the Holy Ghost that all I had been taught as a child and youth were true. To us, living the gospel is simple. We try to live each day as the Savior taught. We strive to serve others and help those around us build a faith in Christ. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings a peace and happiness to our everyday living.

How I live my faith

Cathy has had many church callings through the years. She has served in the children's organization, the youth program, and the women's organization of the church. She lives her faith on a daily basis knowing that being a disciple of Christ is not done only on Sundays, but is a way of life each day. I have served in many positions in the church. Currently I am the Bishop of our ward. It has been very gratifying to be of service to others. It is good to know that what we are doing here on this earth has a real purpose because of the atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ.
