Hi I'm Amanda

I'm a USU graduate. I love traveling, eating, surfing, snowboarding, rock climbing, and going to Disneyland. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Amanda. I've been a Mormon all my life. I live in Southern California with my husband, Matt, and our darling furry puppy. We've been married four years (no kids yet!) and are having a blast enjoying all Southern California has to offer. I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2011. When my husband and I aren't working, we love to travel, boogie board, surf, rock climb, ride bikes, hike, kayak... basically anything. Sometimes we just stay home and watch movies. Life isn't always perfect, but we try hard to make it great!

Why I am a Mormon

Let's see, why am I a Mormon? This is a great question and honestly one that is very easy to answer. I grew up in a family that was LDS. My parents told me that when I was very young (could hardly say a few words), they showed me a picture of Jesus Christ. They said my face lit up, I placed my chubby hand on the picture, and through my huge grin I said, "Jesus". I will never forget the first time I remember actually realizing this church was true. I was around 6 or 7 years old. I sat in church kicking the chair in front of me during a lesson and I realized that this wasn't just any church. The feeling I got when I attended here was different than the feeling I felt at school, friend's homes, movie theaters, etc. I sat staring at a picture of Jesus holding a small little girl in his lap, and wanted to cry. I knew that the teachings that were being taught and the feelings I felt were special and most importantly, true. Throughout my life I haven't been perfect. My life hasn't been perfect. But through the gospel of Jesus Christ I have found true happiness. I know that following His teachings is the only way we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints is exactly what the title says it is, the Church of Jesus Christ. My life has been blessed in invaluable ways from living this gospel and I am and will forever be thankful for it!

How I live my faith

I try hard to live my faith both inside and outside the church. It's not something I put on hold until the next Sunday! It's something I try to live throughout the week through daily prayer and scripture study, service projects, and uplifting activities with friends and family members. At church I serve as the Compassionate Service Leader where I organize services for people that are sick or in need in other ways. We cook and bring dinners, clean homes, garden weeds, watch babies, or just visit over a plate of cookies!
