Hi I'm Mark

I am a husband, Father, Retired Military, work in the shipbuilding industry. I love to hunt and fish and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Father of Three and Married to a wonderful lady. I love to Hunt, Fish and follow College Sports. I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my children play sports. I am a retired member of the United States Navy, I have lived all over the world and settled in Alabama to work with the Navy shipbuilding industry upon my retirement from the U.S Navy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the teachings and doctrines of this faith make perfect sense to me and have richly blessed my life. I know that God lives and loves me. His son, Jesus Christ, was born, suffered and died for all mankind. I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all mankind may be saved and return to live, once again, with our Heavenly Father. I know, that no matter what we may have done in our past, that if we will simply follow the great plan of salvation and accept the atonement into our lives, we can truly find forgivness, our lives can be changed and we can find joy. I also know that the fullness of the Gospel was restored to this earth through a young man named Joseph Smith who was looking for answers as to which Church he should join. I know that God, the Father of Heaven and Earth, and his Son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and through him Restored the Gospel to the earth in our time. This Everlasting Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is available to me, and all mankind, through the teachings which can be found in the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am an active memeber of my church ward and participate in many Church Activities. I work with the Young men in our Ward. I visit the homes of members of our ward and offer any assistance that I may be able to provide. I also read scriptures and books about the Gospel and the Church and am currently listening to a book titled "Jesus the Chrsit" by James E. Talmage which details the life and minestry of our Lord Jesus Christ..

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Mark
To me the Atonement of Jesus Christ makes everything in this life and eternity possible. As we live our lives here on earth, we commit sin. Because of that sin our hearts, minds and spirits get bogged down and overwhelmed. With no way to rid ourselves of those burdens, we can find ourselves in great dispair. Knowing and accepting that Jesus Christ paid the price for those sins and is willing to remove the weight of my sins helps me to live a fuller and more joyful life. We all experience life in different ways and unfortunately we all sin. If not for the Atonement of Jesus Christ, once we committed sin, no matter how big or small, we would no longer be able to return and live in the presences of God. We are told that God cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance. This is not because he does not have compassion or Love for us, but because the law of justice requires that for every sinful action, a penalty must be paid. The simple truth is that we cannot overcome sin on our own. That is where the Savior comes in. As we partner with Jesus Christ, his atoning power can overcome our weakness and help to heal us and those we have trespassed against. His atonement allows us to forgive, and also to be forgiven. As we trust in the Lord and truly change our lives, his Atoning sacrifice encircles us and is sufficient to overcome the demands of justice. Then we, as full partners with Christ, become perfectly clean and worthy sons and daughters of God. Show more Show less
