Hi I'm Suelyn

I grew up in Utah. I'm 22 years old. I'm a wife and mom. I teach dance. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and my husband is currently going to college. We are pinching pennies and loving life! I'm a mom to a baby girl and I love watching her learn new things every day. I work outside my home as a dance teacher for girls (and some boys) of all ages. Boating, swimming, journal writing, taking walks with my baby and surfing the net are some of my favorite things.

Why I am a Mormon

Recently my testimony has really grown to the point that I actually feel like I can say that I KNOW why I'm a Mormon. During April's General Conference 2012, Cheryl A. Esplin gave the talk "Teaching Our Children to Understand". In this talk she read a verse from the song "I Am a Child of God": "I am a child of God and so my needs are great. Help me to understand His words before it grows too late." This hit me like a ton of bricks. As a new mom, I realized that it is my responsibility to learn all I can about the gospel and be ready to teach my children. Since then I have gained a stronger testimony on the importance of the gospel in my life. I don't know where I would be without the help of my Heavenly Father. I truly know that the heavens are opened to anyone willing to let God help them. He has sent the Holy Ghost to help me so many, many times. And I know there are times when he guides me and I am not even aware of it. I am also a Mormon because of my testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful that every day I can try again to do better because of my loving Heavenly Father who sent His son to earth for me. I thank my Father in Heaven for this blessing every day. I love the Gospel and I love the Church.

How I live my faith

I love to go visit the sisters in my ward. It's fun to feel like I'm serving and making a friend at the same time. I go to church and participate in lessons. Participating in lessons is sometimes hard for me because I feel intimidated, but I know that the Holy Ghost can teach me better if I show him I'm ready to learn. At home I try to read my scriptures and say my prayers. Working on much more than that can feel so overwhelming at times. So my goal is to always stay consistent with those two things. While at work (teaching dance), I make sure I use clean music and modest costumes. I stay positive while I teach my students and make sure they leave class feeling happy and uplifted.

Are Mormons Christians?

Suelyn
I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. Christ is the center of the "Mormon" church. The church's true name is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". Mormons believe that Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, that he atoned for the sins of the world in the Garden of Gethsemane and that he died. We also believe that after His death he was resurrected. Christ's atoning sacrifice makes it possible for all of us to return to our Father in Heaven after we die. We believe that God is our Heavenly Father and Christ, God's son, is our brother.
