Hi I'm Heather

I am a university student going into the field of computer animation. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been on my own since I was 18 and have lived all over the United States. I love to make fantasy art, write poetry and stories, research, and sing. I am majoring in Computer Science and plan to have a career in cgi (computer) animation and creating special effects in movies. I am an activist for the rights of people that suffer from mental illnesses and intend to create movies that will raise awareness of this issue. I love people, as we are all children of our Heavenly Father, and wish to leave this world a better place than it was before I came here. Also, I am married to a wonderful husband and we have two cats.

Why I am a Mormon

I spent the first part of my life being suspicious of Mormons because I was given a lot of misinformation about the members of the church. Plus, I could tell that they were different in some way and that bothered me. One month, I did not have any food and church members came and brought me all the food I needed, just like that. After that, I had a more open mind. When some missionaries came and knocked on my door a couple years later I decided to give them a chance to talk to me. I in no way planned on joining the church, but as I read and prayed I came to realize that the teachings were true. I felt God's spirit guiding me for really the first time in my life and decided to get baptized. I have had a full, joyful life ever since and have never looked back.

How I live my faith

Since I joined the church, I have had the privilege of doing voluntary work for others. I taught a small group of cub scouts for several months and went on projects with other church members to clean and beautify the local community. I have changed and grown from a shy, isolated person to some one who has quality friendships and is no longer afraid to speak to people. I do my best to think, speak, and act in wholesome loving ways like Christ did. I have also learned to take good care of my physical health because the body is a temple. Most importantly, being in the church has taught me how to truly love all people and to no longer judge them. I have become a peaceful, happy person as a result of what I have experienced in the church and wish such joy to be possible for everyone. I believe that using one's gifts and talents to upbuild others and make this world better is the best way to be happy.
