Hi I'm Alison

I grew up in San Diego. I love to help other people. I love being happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in sunny San Diego with my mom, dad, and 3 sisters. I LOVE life! I am a college student trying to get into a nursing program because I am fascinated by the human body that we all have been blessed with and health and I love helping people. I love being with good friends, laughing, music, photography, nature, rain, sour gummy worms, dance, (attempting) drawing, and learning (..most of the time).

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both born and raised in the Mormon church, and they have given me such an opportunity also. While I grew up in the church, I encountered many instances where I questioned and doubted my beliefs and even the existence of God. I wanted so badly for this church to be true because it is what I had grown up with and it made me happy. I continued going to church and the activities, and I prayed to know if it was the correct church for a few years, but never got a direct answer. One day I was desperate. I needed to know. I knelt and said the most meaningful, heartfelt prayer I had ever given. I told my Heavenly Father that I doubted everything, and that if He really was there, and if the church was true, to let me know. After closing my prayer and sitting quietly, the thought came to my mind to read a certain scripture. I had read this scripture many times before, and had never had any special experience with it before, so I pushed the thought aside and continued waiting. The thought came again. I thought "Maybe this is the Spirit telling me where to look. It wouldn't hurt just to read a simple scripture." As I read, I came to a simple sentence, yet my soul was filled with an overwhelming feeling of peace, love, warmth, and truth that I had never before felt, nor had ever thought possible. The doubts I had had moments before were nonexistent. I knew. I knew with all my heart, mind, and soul that there is a God, that He loves us and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and saw Him and His Son, Jesus Christ, and that everything taught in this church was true. It was the most incredible feeling I have ever felt, and I still look back to that experience when questions begin to come to my mind.

How I live my faith

I have participated in church as a music chorister, primary teacher (ages 4-6), president of teen girl classes for 5 years, and many others. It is a lot of fun! I love serving in the church. I love the temple and the feelings of peace I feel when I go. In the temple, we perform work in the place of those who have passed on who have not been baptized or received the necessary ordinances, which is an amazing service opportunity for me.
