Hi I'm Seth Thompson

I'm from Payson, and I am serving a mission in México, Torreón and loving it, I plan on returning to study at UVU. and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I am Seth Daniel Thompson, I am from Payson, UT. I love my family very much, I am the oldest child, and only son with two younger sisters. I love them very much and every day we grow closer together. I also Love my dog Sage, he's such a good dog. I love spending time with my friends, especially outdoors: hunting, fishing, boating, mountain biking, dirt biking, snowboarding. Anything outdoors I love to do, especially up Payson Canyon (The Nebo Loop) it is the greatest, most beautiful place I know of. Just so you know a little more about my love for the outdoors, my grandpa and me went to Alaska 3 years ago to go fishing, we worked hard in the morning, but after that we were rewarded with Fish, that literally was our pay, we caught about 250 lbs of fish, and stayed for two weeks, that has been my favorite vacation ever. I was a lifeguard at the payson pool throughout my high school summers which was an awesome job for a young kid. I loved Payson High School, and am a big sports fan. I spend my summers with my friends going to rodeos, Wingers, Concerts. Anything worth doing me and my girlfriend or me and my friends go out and do it. We have some fun times and have done some stupid, foolish things, but we don't regret it because we've learned some great life lessons through the things that we've experienced.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have gained a testimony and a knowledge that our beliefs are true, and that Christ leads and directs this church. I have gained this testimony through living the Gospel. The times in my life when I have been lost and less happy are when I'm not praying, or reading the scriptures particularly the Book of Mormon, but when I return to my good habbits and good senses I come closer to God and Christ, and my quality of life is much better, and my purpose is clear, and what decisions I need to make are easier to make because of my beliefs and the direction of the Holy Ghost that I have in my life. The best example for me has been my grandpa he goes to the Temple twice a week and has been a faithful member all his life, he served a mission, and has done everything he can to help our family and others have a better quality of life. His life is full of happiness and joy because of his eternal perspective, his power in the Priesthood, and his exemple. I strive to be like him and follow in his footsteps so that I can be a true disciple of Christ, help others, and strengthen my testimony. I want to live as my grandpa has so that every day, every hour, and every minute of my life there is no question in my mind why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being an example of the believers, I feel like I can be a good example through my actions, service, and words. At times I haven't been the best example to others, but that's when I sincerally feel the need to repent and come unto Christ as I pray for his help every night. I express my dreams, needs, wants, and desires to our Heavenly Father through my prayers, and try to be grateful for everything that he has given me. I am not a man of many words unless you really get to know me, that is why I try to be an example and help in anyway I can. I strive to be more Christlike and help others and turn outward even when I am times of need. Yes it's hard and I'm by no means very good at it, but as I strive and pray for help, according to God's will I know I can be a true disciple of Christ and Live up to My Priesthood. I also try to serve others with all that I have whether it's a word I say to brighten up their day, manual labor, or mental labor I try to do my best to serve others and by doing so, serve the Lord. At times I don't feel like I am doing enough to live up to my faith, but I'm not perfect and I remember the scripture in Ether 12:27 that says: "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble...for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." I strive for this and Know Christ can make weak things strong.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Seth Thompson
We do not worship Joseph Smith, he was simply the first prophet of God in this last dispensation. We worship Jesus christ and God, our Eternel Father. The name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the name of our church you can see that we worship Christ, he is the center of our doctrine, and this is his church. We do however believe that the prophet is called of god, and guides Christ's church through his divine authority and direction from God. We appreciate all that Joseph Smith did for us in these times and acknowledge him as a Prophet who has given the world more than any other prophet ever has, he translated the Book of Mormon by the Power of God given to him. The book is the word of God, another Testament of Jesus Christ, and we acknowledge it as scripture that Testifies of Christ the leader of our Church and whom we worship. I love Joseph Smith and am eternally grateful for the trials he suffered through and eternally grateful that his testimony never wavered, because of this I can be a Member of this church and worship Christ, because of what Joseph endured I have the fulness of the Gospel in my life and am enjoy all the blessings that come from it.
