Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in Utah, I'm a hairstylist, Banker and a mom.I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read! Oh my do I love to read. Jane Austen is my favorite author. I am a huge goofball. I crack jokes all the time. If you are not laughing, you are not living! I love to hand quilt when I have the time. I have been a hairstylist for 5 years. My family has moved 15 times in 12 years. A lot you say, yes, yes it is. We have lived all over the country and have settled back in Utah. Our favorite place to live so far has been in Florida though. I have 5 children. They range from 11 to 1. I have been married for 12 years to a wonderful husband who takes care of our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to become a Mormon when I was 12. Growing up in Utah not being Mormon was hard. When my mother gave me the option to become a member, I was conflicted. I had grown up to think that Mormons were "bad". It wasn't until I had my own little miracle happen that I truly saw the path I should be on. Shortly after being baptized with my family I came down with a horrible staff infection in my legs. My sister had gotten married and I was standing at her reception all night. The doctors said that this was the worst thing I could have done. I was admitted to the hospital with a scheduled leg amputation of both of my legs just below my knees. I was 12 remember. The night before my operation, my new brother-in-law offered to give me a priesthood blessing. Not knowing what else to do, I accepted. He went to retrieve his brother and offered a blessing upon my head. In the blessing, he said that I would make a full recovery! I was given a sleeping pill and drifted into sleep. The next morning as I was being prepped for surgery, the surgeon came in to take a look at my legs. He pulled back the sheets and asked my name. When I told him, he said, "You are scheduled to have your legs amputated today right?" I said through many tears, "Yes" He then followed with this wonderful response, "I don't see anything wrong with your legs dear" Through my tears I looked down at my legs and sure enough, there was no sign of infection on my legs at all! Going through this event has made me a firm believer in The Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was and still am a very stubborn person. Heavenly Father knows me. He knew I needed to have my eyes opened. I will never, ever doubt the miracle I received that day! I know Heavenly Father loves me. Jesus Christ is the center of his plan. I know that we have a living prophet on the Earth today. I know the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith through service. I feel like Jesus Christ did so much service. If I am trying to be like Jesus, then I should follow his example through service as well. I have taught the youth, organized many dinner to be brought into families that were struggling. I have participated in multiple disaster relief efforts as well.
