Hi I'm Jerrick Walker

I grew up in Florida, I love snowboarding, soccer, and swimming. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am serving my mission in Mexico City. I have been in the mission for about a month and I am LOVING the mission. I am 19 years old, I love to play soccer, volleyball, and run. I look up to my family, friends but most importantly, my Heavenly Father for guidance and encouragement.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because this church not only helps me, but it's helped everyone that's had a hard time. I see people having a hard time whether it be with school or a recent passing of a family member, and the entire ward just reaches out to them. This church is the true church of God. You're probably on this website because you were curious, and I was too. You see, I wanted to find out for myself if the Book of Mormon was true. I knew my grandparents had a testimony of it, I knew my mother has a testimony of it. But I wanted to know for ME. And so I prayed about it as I studied the scriptures. I've always felt good about reading the scriptures. It's never really been me not liking to do it, it was me believing if all this really happened. And when I finally got my answer, I can't express my feelings about how happy and joyful I was to know for a surety that it was true. I haven't doubted since my experience which is very personal to me. The Book of Mormon is true. It was made for our day. And I know that Joseph Smith was a man of God and he restored the Gospel of Christ. I know that my Redeemer lives, and that Jesus is the Christ. I know he suffered for you and me and everyone. I know that we are here on the Earth to be tested. I know that Satan is very real and he tempts us every day. I know that he wants to destroy the church and bring souls unto him. But I am very grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ. Without it we wouldn't be able to return to our Heavenly Father who loves us very much. He loves us so much that he gave his only begotten son. I know this church is true. I know Thomas S. Monson is the true prophet today and that he is here for our day and he is a true man of God. I support him and will follow his guidance until the end of my days. I also know that the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are true men of God and are ordained with a divine purpose. I love this church and I wouldn't change anything in the world for it.

How I live my faith

I am serving a mission for this great church. I have been preparing by going to all of my meetings and paying attention in those meetings. I read my scriptures every day and pray all the time! I also seek guidance of my Mission President. I try to go to the temple once a week. I often read past journal entries and see how my faith has grown. I try to stay on the straight and narrow. I also avoid listening to bad music that involve a lot of swearing and I avoid having friends who use bad language. Just keeping myself clean and being "in the world, not of the world."
