Hi I'm Emily

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Utah. I love this gospel!

About Me

I go to college and i'm studying Elementary Education. I'm married to a wonderful guy named Evan and I have one dog named Charly who we consider to be our child. I love to take pictures, read, go boating, hang out with my family, buy shoes and i've recently taken up cooking.

Why I am a Mormon

As i've grown up in Utah, most people think that I'm a member of the church simply because "everyone" around me is mormon. This simply is not true! I went to church because of my parents and family until age 12, and then I decided I needed to find out if this gospel was true. This has always made me feel a little bad, since i got baptized at the age of 8, but I honestly did not find out for myself until I turned 12! I was really excited because since I was now 12 I could go into the temple and do baptisms for the dead. I had recently been praying to know that this church was true, especially because so many concepts were hard for me to fully grasp. That morning, when I was in the temple, I had the strongest burning throughout my whole body. I remember looking around and seeing all these smiling old people around me and just knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that this church was true! As I went to middle school that day beaming, the rest of my day went perfectly. I even remember getting called up in class randomly to do a difficult problem in math class and i got the answer 100% correct. What a great day Huh? It was one of the best days of my life and through that experience i was even more excited to go back to that great place. (the temple) There are still some concepts that are difficult for me to grasp, such as how the atonement works, however because I know that this church is true, I go on faith for all of the things I don't fully understand. This gospel makes me so happy and I feel so blessed that I have it in my life. Honestly, even though there are times that I am having difficulties I never doubt the gospel. I feel so happy when thinking about our church that I hope to spread my same joy to every person on this earth!

How I live my faith

Every sunday I get to go to church! I have a wonderful calling, seriously my dream come true. I teach the four year olds in our primary. They are adorable!! It is so fun during Sharing time to hear them sing their little hearts out with all of the church songs. Then I get to teach them about very simple things of our church for the next hour. It always amazes me how much these four year olds take in and the spirit i get to feel from them. I also have 4 sisters that i visit teach. I go to their house at least once a month to get to know them better and make sure everything is going ok in their lives. This year, i have tried to make a special effort to get to be better friends with the people i visit teach and the people who visit teach me. I have seen such a difference in my life. It is great having people to just talk to and hang out with when i'm feeling restless or something. I think that a great blessing of this gospel is to help us make friends with those all around us.
