Hi I'm Kristyn

I am a Sister Missionary in El Salvador. I love fashion and photography. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hola Amigos! The name's Kristyn. I am 19 years old, and I am from Chicago, Illinois. I am studying at Brigham Young University- Idaho to be a sewing teacher. I love Fashion Design, and sewing. My ultimate dream would be to open a bridal shop with all my own designs. I also really like photography and graphic design. I'll do anything involving arts and crafts. I have been called to serve a mission in the El Salvador, Santa Ana Mission so I've been learning to speak Spanish. I love my family, they bring so much happiness and joy to my life. We have a lot of awesome adventures together; we have hiked through national parks, splashed at water parks, and toured different holy sites in Israel. Every Monday we have family night, so we can spend time together doing some kind of fun activity. We all get along really well. I absolutely love being a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church, it has truly blessed my life. Without the guidance that the church provides, I would probably go down the wrong path. God's standards are unusually high, but you know what? The world's standards are unusually low. We want to become someone that shines forth with purity and that can be an example to everyone in this sad and lonely world. I also know that God has a plan for us. We were created to be unique and different from everyone else in this world. So we were all created with specific plans for each of our lives. If we are obedient to God's commandments then we will be able to reach our full potential in this life. I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as coincidences; everything that happens is supposed to happen. Every person that we meet will have an impact on us and we will for them. So, every choice is important and we have to decide which choices are best for us to continue moving forward. God knows that we are all human though, so in his plan he has created a way for us to return to the path once we fall away. The Atonement of Christ provides that way for us. He is our Savior, without His ultimate sacrifice we would be unable to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father once again. I will be forever grateful for the Grace of Jesus Christ, that allows me to repent and return to my destined path.

How I live my faith

At my high school of about 2,500 kids there were only about 7 of us that are Mormon. So often times it's difficult to stand up for what we believe in. There are so many distractions in this world, so many different voices, that it is really hard to live my faith each day. How do you do it? Well, as Mormons we have a lot of church meetings. With youth group activities, Sunday worship, and early morning Bible study (Seminary), that's easily over 10 hours at church each week. This sounds insane right? Well this way we are able to create our own community within our congregation (our ward). Wards become a tight knit group of people that truly love and care for one another, and are united with our faith. These people are able to help you keep your standards high. Church attendance is a great way to be enlightened each week. I can personally tell that there is a difference in my week when I am able to feel of the happy spirit there and learn from the lessons taught. In this evil world we live in, we need people to shine through their righteous example, so we often do service projects together. When we serve others, we are also serving God. As a member of the church we may seem peculiar because of our high standards. We are very different from others, but thats not a bad thing at all. By obeying God's commandments we are separating ourselves from the wickedness of the world, so that we can feel the companionship of God's spirit. This gives us guidance and direction in life.
